Why don't the warehouses in Laredo, TX open until 9 am Central time? By the time you are unloaded/reloaded it is usually so late in the day that you need to worry about finding a parking space for the night.

You would think they would want to start at 7 am to get most of their work done before the heat of the day.

That's why the Pilot there is always so full. It's a nightmare trying to get loaded or unloaded there and still have enough time left to drive any distance on your 11. You've sat so long waiting to for your load that it cuts into your available drive time. It definitely gets frustrating.

Maybe it's different with the forwarding companies, but I have never had an appt later than 0700 for loads that are being cross docked. The biggest problem I run into is the Mexican trucks being late. I delivered a load Monday, had to be there by 6am without fail, critical customer, yada yada you know the drill... I run sleep run sleep run sleep, get there at 5:45 am, check in, get told to park in the back row and they would call me when the other truck arrives... 13:30 when he got there.

Some are pretty good, some are pretty bad. Same ol' thing. It all depends on the load.

They run on "mexico time". They are in no hurry to start the day. Many places in Mexico still do the "siesta" thing like a 3 hr lunch break. Plus I believe the Comm border crossing doesn't open till later.

A lot of the forwarders down in Laredo run on what I like to call bankers hours, there are a few that are open early and close late but they are far and few between.

I never have a problem with Laredo. Love going there. Just drop the trailer at the forwarder and take off to our terminal for a break til they get me the next load sitting on the yard ready to go. In and out like its nothing :biggrin_25522:

They are staffed with many people from Mexico, it can take hours for them to walk across the bridge is what I have heard. Then they have to wait on rides to workplaces, the boss might be at warehouses early.
