Not everyone has unlimited data...We do but it costs us to keep it!
We went with Verizon because of the better coverage. and no im not going to debate Sprint VS Verizon. -
Well, I learned an expensive lesson yesterday. I am a big advocate for the dash cam. It came in handy to record the car pulling out of the gas station in front of me. I was coming down US 395 and the speed limit is 55mph. I was hauling a load of onions out of OR and scaled at 79,560lbs. So needless to say I was not going to stop on a dime. I prevented a major accident and only tapped the car (I think and it sounded like it), but the car took off. I stopped and could not see any damage or marks. I pulled my SD card out of the dash cam to view the incident. It shows it nicely, but here comes the lesson to be learned. My resolution was set to low and the license plate is blurry. I checked my load and yes it was messed up. I talked to the receiver and for $400.00+ they would restack the palettes. I did it myself and spent almost 5hrs restacking 1500 25lbs bags of onions.
After all it did not cost me anything, but a hard lesson was learned. Make sure the resolution is high so you can read license plates.
I am a bit sore today and been taking Ibuproven to keep things moving.jess-juju and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
i don't have unlimited data. unlike i had with sprint. but what i've got. is more then enough for me. pay for all them wandering wifi's and the price adds up for lousy service.
how did you get 25 pound bags. my loads have always been 50 pound bags. 950 bags is what they throw on me.
remember though, higher resolution takes up more memory.
the trick is to ride a motorcycle. you learn to develop a 6th sense and know when danger is coming.
ALWAYS assume the worse is about to happen. cuz it generally does. -
Why yes snowwy, I do still have a dumb phone. It works for me, for now. When it finally breaks, guess I'll have to get a smart phone.
Reason I was trying to use the wifi is, was going to be sitting for 20 hrs or so, and no..... my plan is not unlimited. Oh well. -
i don't have unlimited. and my samsung phone works way better then my bionic did as far as signal goes. first verizon phone i've ever had that actually works.
sprint dropped the ball. they don't have much in the way of 4g at the moment. -
don't know if this might interest you pan. but u.s. cellular has a usb modem for $30. service is $25 a month for 2 gigs of internet. 4g is spotty but 3g has the entire east coast covered.
looking around on the internet. it's the cheapest deal by far. other services were around $100 for a modem. and $45 for 2 gigs.
when i first came back out. 2gig was my plan and more then enough for me.
don't know what your paying on the wandering wifi. but with your own modem. you'd have much better internet gauranteed to work. anywhere on the road. no need for a truckstop. -
It would have been a lot easier to dodge the car on a bike or to slow down. I have not had a bike in a couple of years and at this point I don't have to much time to ride anyway. I have had a lot of close calls, hit a car that ran a red light and totaled a BMW 1150GS in the Yukon after a run in with the local wildlife. That one I Macgyvered back together and after 5hrs of road side repairs I finished my trip to Alaska, haul road and the Arctic Circle and back to WA.
I use a Verizon Jetpack for internet on the road and it seems to be working great. I think it was $90.00 for the Jetpack and I pay $50.00 for 5gb per month. It can run up to 10 devices.jess-juju Thanks this. -
Thanks snowwy. I do have a verizon usb modem. Think I'm paying $60 a month for 8 gig. Its surprising tho, just how fast that can go!!!!
jess-juju Thanks this. -
We use about 20 gigs a month
Viking not much you can do when a 4 wheeler does the idiot stimpy BS!
