Reason I'm wondering is because I know someone who is in school and was out driving with instructor and 3 other students and got a call over the radio to bring the truck back to the yard that someone had called in a report of their truck hitting this persons suv in the parking lot the truck had been in while students were switching drivers. By the time the call came in, they had left the parking lot and were out driving in the town. No one in the truck saw or felt any hit, and none of them recall ever being close to an suv in that parking lot. School did an investigation, had everyone in the truck fill out an affidavit. Sounds to me like someone saw the truck in the parking lot and was hoping to score some free money. The "accident victim" hasn't filed a report with the police. This supposedly happened on Thursday and it's Saturday now. Does anyone know what the time limit is for a police report to be filed? Is this a common thing for people to do? See a student driver truck and hope to make a false claim? Just curious if this had happened to anyone else.:biggrin_2554:

But here again comes a common sense answer that would actually make sense ... drum roll please ...
If there is no police report it is an attempt to make a FRAUDULENT claim! And if the people attempting to make this claim were reported to the law, maybe the law could do something to them. People should not be allowed to try and get away with this. I wouldn't make anybody do anything until a "POLICE REPORT" was made. But people who are telling lies aren't going to incriminate themselves by doing that, so story ends.
Sorry but I really take to heart the things that all the lazy arse, sorry, pathetic morons attempt to get for free.
Back to peace and quiet ... :biggrin_25512:

When I went to cdl school, my first time on the road I hit a pole with my passenger side mirror. I was pulled out of a truck for a few days and just focused on pretrip. Two weeks later, I went on the road again but was eventually dropped from the class. It took its toll on me mentally but plan on going back to any school for my cdl. I just need to get better. If you really want it then make it happen.

Didn't know of anyone hitting anything other than curbs and cones when I was in school but the trailers definitely hit some trees at some point.

I would imagine it depends on the severity and whether it happens at the school yard or on public roads.

When i was an instructor, I had a student turn too soon in an abandoned warehouse parking lot while I was outside the truck directing him to come forward and set up to back into dock. He put a decent crease in the trailer about halfway. He finished school, was not let go.
