I put in an application with Schneider a few days ago. I own a truck and would go on the Choice Program.
What are the rules on taking a trailer home for time off. Can I take an mt trailer home with me?
Will Schneider let you log a 2 and 8 hour split break?
Can anyone tell me what you average per mile ( odometer miles )? I understand averages will vary, but I would like to see examples. I have seen a few post rates and they look ok.
And any other info would be appreciated. Thanks. -
Made the on time delivery early this morning here is San Marcos TX. Taken a little breather and then picking a load up out of San Antonio tomorrow going down to Laredo TX with 42,000 lb. Sometimes just got to take the heavy ones it's only 175 mile run so won't burn to much fuel. After that picking up in Laredo heading to Davenport IA nice paying load and only weighs 10,600 LB.
Keepen it lite!! -
I'm waiting till the cons empties the trailer, then heading tomorrow Monday morning to Spartanburg, SC, to pick up a 8,700 lbs load and taking it to Lynchburg, VA.

Not sure about taken the MT home. More than likely it is a case by case. If you live a relatively far distance from a customer or OC then probably you can. Otherwise you will have to leave it at the OC or customer.
Our electronic logs will allow you to take split break but eventually SNI will ask you not to take the split. I use to do a split every now and then on the company side and they eventually said to knock it off they don't want you to do it. It is their rule so I respected it and don't use it. Don't really want to now anyway because of how I run.
Well if you take an average of three loads I an working on, comes out to about 1.49 a mile, some weeks I can do a little better but most of time it is around 1.5. Examples:
Frankfort IN to San Marco TX -- Paid $1744.90 OD miles-- 1162 mi
San Marcos to Laredo TX------ Pays $247.70 OD miles-- 205 mi
Laredo to Davenport IA ------- Pays $2028.23 OD miles -- 1331 miLone Ranger 13 Thanks this. -
I was talking to a Choice guy the other day at the Dallas OC. He was picking up an empty trailer for the weekend. He booked a load on the other side of the weekend so he could take the trailer home for the weekend.....just a thought...

Just lower the volume and adjust it to only pick up what is close. I get a lot of use out of it. At shippers, bear locations, when hitting traffic I know if it is a rec or just traffic and how long it will take to get through, finding locations, talking to other drivers when trying to maneuver around them in tight spots. Heads up when to take a detour and how to do it... on and on.. it is a mandatory tool in my book

That is true I could see doing that. I don't live far from OC and can't get a trailer to my house so wasn't sure.

But if I see there is a hazard ahead of you and can't tell you about it, then your missing out on sometimes very vital info! just saying! i don't like most of the BS on there either but it does have great benefits.Last edited: Aug 12, 2013

Ok...you talked me into getting one again, I had a Cobra 29, the one that changes colors, but spent money in getting it boosted and putting something extra on the back of it to get it more powerful. But next time around don't want to go thru all that again. What CB do you think I should get? I heard the General Lee are good??
