I heard a rumor a while ago that R&L makes the P&D guys purchase their own 2 wheeler and pallet jack. Can anyone substantiate that??

It's IAM, not inhouse. Granted they normally unionize taxi and limo drivers in their auto lodges. The nice thing about NEMF so far for me is that they pay you to drive and working the dock is a rarity. Equipment is ok, and you mostly pull long boxes over doubles down here in Harrisburg.

I stand corrected about the union then. I don't think I've ever seen you guys pull sets before lots of long boxes. See a lot of sleepers though at least in Newburgh anyways. I hated working the dock and driving. I was just drained at the end of the day

Supposedly, from what I've heard, NEMF was/is part of the Bakers and Confectioners Union and not the Teamsters.

It isn't their own union, it's actually the IAM (www.goiam.org). They cover quite a bit besides NEMF employees, including major aerospace, automotive, tool and die, and other industrial segments.

"In-house" or company sponsored unions are illegal. It has to be an outside, non-company affiliated union. I heard NEMF drivers have a pretty good contract. I was trying to get in as a forklift/warehouse worker which I'm sure is covered by the CBA, but for some odd reason they never called me despite having worked in that business for many, many years.
