Got the truck and trailer but one thing I can't find is how fast I can receive all my paperwork and documents after filing. Another post I stated that needed the truck for the personal use to move a family member. The house is sold and has to be moved out ASAP. Is their anyway to expedite the paperwork needed to run the truck as a not for hire? Like in the next couple days not the next 30.
Expedited paperwork.

Wait so you bought a truck or you filed for your authority or what? I'm a little confused. As you probably know the government plays drag ### when filing for authority. Takes about 20 days if you pay the extra so you can download a copy of your authority. Its like 17.50 extra or you can wait another week for it to arrive by mail. Yep that's how the government works. As for if you just bought a truck and trailer your paper work should've been overnighted. So a day or 2 max I would think. I'm just a little confused by the question.

Call OOIDA just to be sure, but I THINK all you need to do is hang some signs on the doors proclaiming you're NOT FOR HIRE... check to be sure, but not for hire exempts you from HOS, etc.... you still need a CDL A and stay within weight limits, etc, but if you don't have any revenue being generated, the FMCSA isn't part of your problem... again, double check to sure.

According to OOIDA being it is a class 8 truck, I still have to setup a IFTA account and report fuel, I do have to have dot, mc numbers plus register for ucr but authority isn't required for private use but all that is still needed to run as a not for hire. I know the authority process is a month long pull your eyeballs out of your skull boardem kinda wait but its not important right now. I just need the other documents rushed so I can get across state lines for a private move without getting penalized. Problem is we have 10 days to get it done and get there.

JJ Keller for an instant IFTA trip permit. YOu can drive to your states IRB and plate it. If they need a 2290, just drive to the nearest office. Of course you need truck insurance first. You can plate the trailer at your regular department of motor vehicles. Do the DOT numbers online, its instant, and FREE.
Skunk_Truck_2590 Thanks this.
