i purchased mine thru freightliner select trucks, 2 yr warranty, if you have good credit i would not do it that way but it was a good option for me, my credit at the time was mid 600 i have had my truck for 15 months and have been satisfied with it, i purchased my bobtail insurance with my truck payment. but will probably change it to a lower price insurance company but the insurance thru the frieghtliner that i purchased was better priced than what i would have paid thru the trucking company i'm leased to now. arrow truck sales is kinda the same as select trucks the best i can figure but they have all brands of trucks. good luck

Landstar has allot of oversize loads. From what I understand if you don't have experience on oversized then you have to run regular flat for a few months and then they work you up in size with a few months on each size.
They are not like the normal company you may be thinking of as having "division" you can run whatever trailer you wish and all there freight is listed on there load board. You pick your loads, run where you want, work when you want and just pay them there fee's.

You get to the pickup address then call customer service and you'll get the T.O.N.U.

    You gotta play the game.

If you don't have at least one year of verifiable platform experience then you have to wait 6 months while pulling legal platform freight and then you can move up if you don't have any issues.

    Markvfl Thanks this.

Even with freight rates dropping, its still pretty cool working here.

Going to be going to step deck, but have to go to their securement course first.

    Do I like it here?

    No.
    I LOVE it here.

I do believe the nay sayers didn't have a good business sense.
And I drive for a guy, but I do everything on my own.

Its like having all the freedoms of an O/O but none of the worries!

I'd love to get my own truck, but for now I'm fine with how it is working out!

Great pay, I go where I want and get home when I decide!:wav:

Sounds like he is, many of the agents have multiple trucks and many of the BCO's have more that the one truck that they may or may not drive.

they've had my application almost tow months. day before yesterday he told me they were not getting a response from my last co btu when I said I would email him and find out why he said No No No, give me two more days if still nothing then you can call.
Thing is though I had already emailed him, he is a good friend of mine. He told me he has not ever had a request from landstar and then told me every one he has gotten and when. Then all of a sudden he got the one from landstar. Personally I think he droped the ball and wasn't doing my app and was trying to c.h.a.(same as c.y.a.)
But I had to tell the landstar guy that even if they did approve it at this point I have to go find a co job for awhile to replenish my bank account. I'v drained it waiting on them and don't have the startup funds anymore

Mikenamys, Just wandered how you got hooked up with your owner. Said $$ great??? Anybody else can answer up with ideas. I am looking for an opportunity that will pay enough to let my wife come along with me without having to live on PB&J L.O.L. Seriously, in following this thread I have seen a lot of success stories but I still have questions.
