I'm new to this as well so I'll tell you what I went thru. I have 2 1/2 yrs driving experience and the equipment we use is a 11 car stinger.

2 weeks loading/unloading on the "dock". Then 2 weeks out with a trainer dropping off loads and picking up back hauls. After that I had to do 30 days solo as a probationary driver.

Even with all that you'll still have times when your overwhelmed. Like Slant said it takes only a second to destroy a car.

I'm not trying to discourage you or anyone else but this line off work changes constantly.

I understand the title says "need advice", however the original wording is a bit sketchy...
Yes it can be done with proper training. That said, I am suspicious of the "trainer". He is willing to only invest a week and send you on your way. And give you 25% of what? Off the top or after he has paid for the truck, fuel, etc... A 7 car has you loading upper and lower, moving decks, etc. Who is this guy hauling for? I see you are from Las Vegas. Why don't you go over to the UP rail yard at the north end of town and see what company has the rail haulaway these days. Ford and Chrysler both are railed into there. I think GM still comes into Phoenix and gets trucked in, although that may have changed since I was involved. Anyway, whoever is moving vehicles out of there will be a reputable company and train you the correct way. And 1 more question, Con way was a decent job that I knew of, why do you want to leave and work for Mr. 25% of nuthin...?

it also depends on the training....if you train loading and unloading the same truck you will be driving at least twice a day for two weeks you got a good chance of making it..... DONT DAMAGE ANY CARS.....DONT GET ANY TICKETS

Heck when I stared my wedge, the only training (aside from CDL school) I had is info a friend text'd me from 3000 miles away on how to strap a car down LOL. That's been over 2 years ago and I have yet to have a claim against me (knock on wood). Yes a stacker is a lot more involved than a wedge, but it's all about common sense- take your time and GO SLOW. Don't be the guy that finds out the hard way that the 1 minute short cut costs him 2 hrs in paperwork and lost wages!

I have friends that do it and always want me to come over..alot of bedbuggers go to hauling cars, but doesn't interest me. But my point is if I could do it,you certainly could. They do real well.
i used to haul them inside when I was bedbugging, and they are a pain inside, but seem much easier when you have a car hauler trailer.
