The truck's computer will give you away. Also, the qualcomm will reflect the change as well.

They tell us if maverick catches you tampering with the govern truck it is grounds for termination so why risk it is it agravatting you bet it is but so is unemployment.

I have taken a shower now I have all day to do nothing their are a few basketball games on tv so I will probably watch them and take a nap.

I wanted to speak to salary because you here alot of things I will tell you that maverick pays me 35 cents a mile I have had one or two 700 dollar checks alot of 600 dollar checks a equal amont of 500 dollars check and only two or three less than that those where during the brutaly slow holidays time.I am banking 50 bucks every two weeks to carry me through those times next year. You will here a lot of things about pay as a solo driver I have not figured out how those 1000 dollar a week guys do it it would take a lot of good fortune as a flatbedder to do that but guys claim they are doing it I just havent figured out how.

There are just two many things beyond your control to guarantee making that kind of money and you would have to do a whole lot of driving as for myself I have established a twelve hour a day rule I wil not work more than that If i cant get it done then so be it I am sure that probably doesnt make me to popular with maverick (they have never said anything to me)but a person should not be working that hard you have to have some balance and they will have little joy in there life. That said if I am trying to get home I will do whatever it takes to get there.Yall be safe later

That is the new driver pay. They will pay up to 41 cpm. I can take anywhere from $800.00 to $1.200 home a week after everything comes out. I have had some crappy weeks. This will be one of them; where I will wish that I stayed at the house. I was off 9 days 2 weeks ago and last week got a dud trailer on a swap. (my last 4 trailer swaps have cost me 1 day a week in running, due to stopping and getting another driver's problems fixed. I have encountered some bad weather and had a couple issues with my truck that had to be fixed. The down time was waiting a day to get in the mav shop and have a 1 hour job done.:biggrin_2551: Plus a few layovers waiting to get loaded or unloaded, but that is trucking.

Thanks Daytona for posting some money numbers. Seems like accurate info on trucking companies is hard to come by. Your observations always seem to be real. I enjoy reading your comments, please keep giving your day to day observations. Your posts are helping to form my opinion of wheather or not I want to make a career change into the trucking industry. It's too bad alot of people who post on this site have some sort of axe to grind. As far as I know entry level positions in any company in any business, will leave alot to be desired if you are an experienced person looking back at the entry level jobs. And if you are an experienced driver still looking at entry level jobs (companies) then that probably speaks volumes as too why there are so many negative opinions expressed by people. Anyway keep up the good work.Peace

So I am sitting here facing the entrance and this fellow pulls in and stops and jumps out his rig runs into the street and starts rolling a wheel into the truckstop and throws it into his trailer. He jumps into his rig and he slowly starts rolling as he goes buy I can see he is missing the front wheel off his tamdem that must of been one scary moment to see you trailer wheels dissapearing behind you.He is pulled over to the shop and they are fixing it.

It is very cold here and they are calling for freezing rain in the morning guess my luck of missing bad weather is gona run out.Hamshoe I know what you mean it was hard for me to get a good grasp of what was going on when I decided to do this that is the reason I started to post this. Information is knowledge. We all start somewhere I will try to keep the information flowing.later

Yep... this would be a scary moment alright--for the driver of the four-wheeler when the wheel comes crashing through the windshield and kills him.

(in a Mr. Roger's voice) Can you say PRETRIP INSPECTION? Sure, I knew ya could.

That driver is lucky as hell the wheel didn't kill someone. I have seen that happen--unfortunately, more than once. I guarantee you will see a lot of prison time should this event happen to any of you. It is your responsibility to make sure your wheels are not going to fall off. Especially double check the lugs after a few miles when the wheels have been taken off for any kind of service.

Yup you are getting hammered by ice right now. This morning in Springfield, MO I set out to run in a school bus as they hadn't cancelled school yet. Even saw some buses going down the street. Luckily they called school off and the buses made it back. I only have two weeks to go before my Trucking school starts. I can't wait.

We got hammered with freezing rain and snow coming down from MI. I drove all night through MI, OH and KY through the worst weather yet. I had ice 3 inches thick on the mirrors, the hood was completely covered with sheet ice and the sun visor was solid ice. The hood mirror actually had a beard LOL.

It was freaky when a big sheet of ice would break away and slap the side of the truck as it broke off. It sounded like you ran over a 4 wheeler.

As for pay... our teams start at .41/mile split and go up quarterly to .44/mile split after 12 months. Our miles have been so up and down through the holidays. We have had one $1000.00 each pay check but most have been in the 600-800 range with a couple lower. I look forward to the freight picking up so we can get more consistent miles. It sucks to run 4 or 5 days straight, get your sleep schedule all set, then end up doing solo runs (sleeping at night) or getting held over for a day or so where your sleep schedule gets all messed up and you have to start over. The first few nights adjusting are really a pain in the butt.
