well I have been lazy lately so I figured I would do a writeup, starting around june I had my 12 year old with me for a few weeks , we got a lot of decent loads and averaged about 2500 miles a week for 4 weeks . It was a nice month , we did six flags in St. Louis and splash town in houston had a good time and made some nice memories, then my younger son got out and the older one jumped in , it went well however 17 year olds really really are different than ordinary living human beings . He mostly wanted to drink eat and sleep and maybe go to a movie but never look out the window or pay atention to anything that had to do with the country , or the trucking world in general . I am really glad he came and I got to spend time with him but it only lasted 2 weeks and that was fine for me I look forward to seeing him on hometimes again lol. had another decent week after that and then last week happened . Definitely not a typical week and Melton was extremely accommodating but seriously bums you out when working over the road . I unloaded on Monday in L.A. after only getting a 6?? mile weekend load to make 1800 for the week , sucks but it goes with the territory and I have had plenty of good weekend loads. I needed to take the truck to the shop for apu problems and I found the shipper broke a board in the deck with his forklift wheel and then to top it off my d/s low beam wouldnt work for a few hours monday morning. Truck and trailer took from monday at noon til Thursday night to get resolved. Melton sprung for hotels without a peep and I REALLY LIKE THAT ABOUT MELTON. Still no miles = no money except for layover pay which was about 75 bucks I think for the week ,sure makes for a boring week that ends up costing more than you made even though your not off work, not at home , and can't make any money. This is part of Trucking , it sucks but it is. This week is going better , got a decent load to start it off with and I should dig out of last weeks hole without a problem.

ended last week with about 2600 ish miles , had some ups and downs with loads I didn't care for , really had me in a bad mood starting this week not really anybodies fault ( except maybe mine ) but that comes and goes with this job. I started off this week with a 400 miles tarp load that tore up my tarps a little and really annoyed me ( again my fault but in my defense blargle blargle ) and then hit paydirt with a 2000 mile spool load to houston then home a few days early for a week of hometime. oh and my apu took another dump so am back in a hotel tonight north of houston. will end this week with 2600 miles and 1 tarp load out of 2 loads total. sure hope somebody is getting a idea of what we do out here from this thread lol kinda hate I was writing in it for nothing.

Well I can add more to this later but I am at home cleaning out my truck. I had a disagreement about hometime with my DM and decided it was time , yeah I would have liked to stay longer but this was something I needed melton to budge on ( the dates of my hometime ) , my dm said No. so I am putting in my notice, cleaning out my truck and hauling my last load to Dallas then turning in my truck in Sunnyvale. I don't think bad about Melton, I am not all angry with my DM , its just a issue of hometime dates I can't let go , Melton didn't say or do anything wrong I just put in for hometime a week ago and I was close to home and asked if I could go home , they said no. If you want to say someone was unreasonable you can say I was because I wasnt willing to sit around different places with odd loads while melton fumbled trying to get me home again. They might of got me a load straight home , or I might have been sitting someplace rediculous 2 days after my hometime should have started which is kinda the usual thing for me. I can't be clearer about this Melton didn't break a promise or do anything out of character , I just don't feel like blowing another hometime when I found myself unloaded 120 miles from home and I could just be off a few days early. I will update how the final 4 days went after I get back home. Nobody has offered to buy me a bus ticket home for bringing their truck back so I am making a reservation now, I am curious to see if Melton charges me for anything or messes with my DAC but I wouldnt think they would and have never heard of that before. On a side note I was 37th in the company out of like 1100 drivers on the company scorecard lol .

You'd think with a driver rating like yours with the company it would have budged a little or -someone- would have contacted you after you gave notice to see what they could work out ... smh.

I reread that and that was just for last month , normally I am somewhere between 1-200, I have only got the fuel bonus once and if I worked harder on that ( go slow ) I might have made some more points for the rating system.

They don't care who you are, unless you're a blue knight or million miler. Not saying I am any better than Cannon at all, but they did the same to me. I was scheduled to be home today, and I was in Dallas late last week and could have easily got a load to Houston to deliver Friday, 2 days early for home time. But they decided to send me to KC instead. Ended up getting a load to Shreveport to deliver today then deadhead home...I got home "on time" (correct day, just at the end of it), but I lost a lot of miles since they dont pay deadhead for hometime. Last time I had to refuse loads because it was sending me to Ohio 2 days before my scheduled hometime from Minnesota...refused load and got a load the next day coming straight to houston. They like to say they plan for crap like this but its obvious they don't....

Cannon's words obviously have more bite than mine...I guess I'm just to scared to switch companies again. I really like it here, but all this crap about hiring new guys just to get the government kickbacks is getting ridiculous. Growing way too fast driver wise and not fast enough accounts wise...way too many drivers for the amount of loads we have, so they're having to take crap loads just to keep up moving...(600m and less)
