Don't sweat it, Starvingwife1, knuckle-dragging neanderthals abound on these forums. The concept of equal partners eludes them.

Sorry about your experience. Mr. Parts worked for a small company years ago (Oh, and they'll tell you that small companies are the way to go here!) hauling feed, that darn near killed us financially. Only job he walked out of without notice. Here's your keys, I'm out of here. He currently drives regional for a mega that he's overall happy with that keeps their truck well maintained, a very, VERY important company characteristic. The medium size company he worked (14 years) went under due to bad business decisions that came home to roost when the Great Recession hit hard. Doesnt want to stay forever, but it'll do for now.

However, you'll hear a constant, plaintive bleating about the HORRORS of working for a big trucking company. Yes, some have had very bad experiences, but NOT everyone. Mr. Parts doesn't post here because, well, most truck drivers annoy the heck out of him! :biggrin_25525:

Don't think I was attacking you there, I just was questioning how 1100 miles a week paid $42. Sounds like they have some shotty practices there but good luck to you and your husband. I hope he finds something better soon.

Yes sad but true the moral of the story would be read the fine print and then take it to a good lawyer and get him to look at the small print too.

Giltner was a good company. Within a few months about 50 drivers left. They only rely on two major accounts. I was treated very well when I was there. Bet sitting for a couple days waiting for a load don't work. Even though I was making 42 cpm.

I am a driver for Giltner and I too am fed up..I have to agree with this driver's wife. I have worked for several companies over the more than ten years I have been on the road and the only drivers guarenteed miles are the favorites in this company. We are only allowed up to $100 in advances per week. I won't go into details on how unhappy I am, but needless to say I have retained an attorney in regards to there numerous title seven violations. This company believes they are above the law and can do as they wish. Violating any law and treating their drivers as they wish. It didn't used to be like this. When we lost our opperations manager last summer things went from okay to terrible overnight. I will be leaving shortly because I am tired of starving. This company is now no better than swift or any of the large box companies. Thank you for your time

I've heard of a few problems here but for me it was a good experience 70% of the time. A few times I got an ear full, and a couple of times I was responsible for a thing or so. But they had me running a lot except for two different weeks. One of them was because the tranny blew and they had to put a new one in, in Medford, Oregon. They paid $85.00 a night for the hotel (rogue regency) now I only ran from I'd to Ca and then to Wash state and back to Jerome. Which is what I wanted. Yeah payroll does things backwards, but several people had abused the trip pak scan they were using so they just said get it to the terminal. My truck did 74 ;-) and even when the safety director Dusty found out he didn't do anything. I guess it was because the lease drivers are set at that speed. I am the first to say a company sucks. But they treated me okay or I should say better than the rest.i retired from trucking last October after 20 years, and the safety director called me up after he found out about the Truckload Carriers Association naming me a Highway angel, and the Ohio State Patrol giving me an award for Valor due to saving several lives January 23, 2013 during a major accident. What happened as you most know about snow and ice, but at that time the highway was shut down due to several accidents in NEW Ohio on I-90. I was at the back of the line and the left lane had a row of 4 wheelers and in the right lane where I was I had 2 4 - wheelers in front of me and a couple of big trucks. I had just told my wife that it would be terrible if some idiot not paying attention to the stopped traffic come running over the top and killing some people. 8 minutes later as I was looking out my Sideview I spotted a red big truck coming fast and my worst nightmare was unfolding. He was jack knifing. I immediately pulled my rig diagonally across both lanes as a barrier. He slammed into our back door at 40+ miles an hour and knocked us 50 up the road. I had many people telling me that they had seen what I did and Thank you for saving our life. Too me it would've been the tragedy if i did nothing. The O.S.P. had told me during the course of his investigation that i was the reason that a woman and her 5 year old were going to the Hospital and not the morgue. The troopers name is Jason Hayes. It was a good feeling. So gents and ladies please remember to slow down when it is is or just stopped snowing. That freight is not worth your life. Back to the story. Dusty called me recently as he often does and said i know you are retired from driving, but if you want your old job back. And that rental car you held on to for that week you was broken down, don't worry about it. It is water under the bridge. No one else has ever said this before. The company is was driving for at the time of the accident (Aishwarya Inc. Of Camarillo, Ca had fired me after the accident because the load I was under at that time was 4 hours late, despite just having a bad accident. These guys never asked me to run illegal, and they fixed the problems right away as hen You let them know.i was floored. They are not perfect but I was bringing home $700.00 to $950.00 a week. I told him I would drive a local truck. And he took me up on it. These guys are far from perfect and having the right dispatcher (s) here can make or break you. At of the stories you here about here are probably true, but once you pet the d put the idiot dispatcher (Jeremy) in check it will improve. I am still retired, but the wife and I miss the road. Dusty doesn't usually give the drivers any problems, unless you really screwed up bad. Keep the Shiny side up, and the dirty side down. Be safe Drivers.
