Most (and when I say most I mean 99%) of American drivers could not handle driving in Germany.

These are the winners. The right lane in metro areas, should be called "the merging lane". I really don't care who gets mad at me, I hate slowing down to 30 mph for every on ramp. In LA, the right lane is usually backed up due to the exit ramps being clogged.

With 2yrs under your belt, your still gaining experience. Of course, your entitled to your opinion. But here in California, the law says "Slower Traffic Keep Right" and you will be cited if your in the middle lane of 3 three lanes.

I've had more close calls in the right lane in slow traffic then the middle lane. Why? How many 4 wheelers come down the ramp in rush hour and try to get that last car length or 2. They see a rig and they really need to get in front. I've #### near drove over the hoods of cars when they try to squeeze between my rig and the big concrete wall . You know #### well we would be at fault for that one, "we should of seen them and stopped to let them by" .

As for "slow traffic, keep right" what is considered slow traffic? can you keep the speed limit? since the speed limit may be 65 mph that is the upper limit. So if I can keep it between 60-65 and I not considered slow traffic?

Now if I have weight on and I am dogging I will ride the middle on level grade but if I see a big hill coming I will move over. I've even given a shout to truckers if I know I am gonna dog down on a hill so I don't hold them up.

I'll be honest, the best solution would be to get the left lane re-labeled as the "thru traffic" lane, where traffic that doesn't intend to leave the roadway for the next 20+ miles is encouraged to hang out in and stay to the side out of everyone else's way.

I guess I could write to my congressman, cus that's always works :biggrin_2559:

It's not "slow traffic keep right". It's "Keep right except to pass".
