J Arthur, I had steel inner rims and two of them were bent that we found on a balancer, even thou they looked good.

Thanks kenw007, I have aluminum inners and have checked them out by jacking the truck up and spinning them but maybe I should take a closer look. I still think my problem is suspension related though. The truck jut ride terrible... and it rode good before I changed the spring bushings in the back. Low Air Leaf Suspension.

What is the front axle weight spec'ed at? If it is 14,000#s, that might be your problem.
Also, if they have the tires mounted egg shape, it will ride rough. Check the tire bead all the way around and make sure it is uniform. If it does not have pilot centering hubs, put a dial indicator on the front tires, and check for runout. Put the high spot up top, loosen the luges and let the tire drop onto the lugs, tighten and recheck. If still out of round, check bead again....
Also, a lot of companies and drivers are running a lot of air pressure in the front tires for mileage and wear, but I found that anything over 95 lbs, and the ride is going to suffer accordingly. I never had any early tire wear at 95 pounds that I could detect, but then I am not a fast driver and go easy in the curves....
I had driven at least a half dozen Volvos back the 90s and they all rode great. Got a 2000, with the same specs, and that truck always rode rough. Never did figure out why it rode so differently than the others.... -
No Stone... I have regular 12,000# front axle. I run 100 psi in all tires and I have checked them for run out, they're good. Shaking seems to be from the rear. I have ordered a Bose Ride System seat and will see if that can isolate me from the truck enough to learn to live with it. I loved everything about my truck until last October when I changed those rear spring bushings. I'm convinced that is where the problem is. However... I have not done a brake job back there since then so I am still holding out hope that maybe... just maybe there is something wrong with my brake drums and the problem will fix itself when I change the drums. That is my next project on the truck.
Stone Express Thanks this. -
Did you get balanced or unbalanced brake drums? I once had a brake job and specified balanced drums. I couldn't stand to ride in the truck. Took it back, and found out they installed unbalanced drums. The IH shop admitted their mistake and replaced the unbalanced drums with balanced, which made a huge difference.
heavyhaulerss Thanks this. -
I know this post is very old but I wanted to say thanks for sharing this. My 94 W9 was riding brutally rough. After taking measurements at the locations you've specified I had 9.5". Adjusted the leveling valve to 8.5" and it rides much better. Does the ride get better when set even lower? Or how low is too low?Tombstone69 Thanks this.

You ever figure out your issue? I have the same exact problem. Thanks

IMO, the 8 bag KW is the best suspension made.I have a 94' 600 and it rides like a stretch limo.Triple airride, that's the ticket!

As long as you don't bottom out the suspension, you're good to go.That's loaded of course.
