These are my thoughts in a nutshell:
1) If you want more hometime, it's time to look into leaving OTR and get into LTL. More hometime and OTR is an oxy-moron. Companies need to make money, and they aren't going to make money when their trucks are parked.
2) Not everyone can afford brand new well-maintained equipment and decent wages, especially the mom and pop shops. You are not the only one that needs to make money. The company does too.
3) Benefits, although nice shouldn't be a requirement. You can get benefits on your own if you want them bad enough.
This is what separates a good company driver from the ones that expect the world handed to them on a platter. Be willing to make compromises, and you'll be happier in the long run. In most instances, it's not the company that's the problem, but the person behind the wheel.
Whats the trick ???
