You are welcome, steven13. One other thing that I will mention about safety. I always pinned at least one corner of a top ramp once loaded. In fact, it would be good to pin 2 opposite corners of a ramp. I have seen many drivers who never think about pinning a ramp. I have busted hydraulic hoses and things can happen without warning. If a ramp is not pinned and you lose hydraulics the ramp will fall and whatever is below will be damaged or crushed. If you are under the ramp you can easily be seriously injured or killed. If there is a car below, it will be crushed. It takes a little longer to pin ramps, but well worth the effort to prevent serious damage or injury.

Each corner of a moveable ramp is attached to a steel post that has holes in it. The ramp moves up and down around these steel posts. You position your ramp and then push one of the pins through the post underneath so that the ramp cannot fall completely down should the hydraulics fail. I prefer using two pins, one on opposite corners. It takes a few minutes longer to do this, but is much safer than just raising the ramp with a car and hoping that nothing goes wrong. When hauling cars you usually load the top ramps first. In order to load the lower deck you usually need to raise the top ramps to allow easy access for the other cars. It is when you have the ramps raised that you push in the steel pins to prevent the ramps from falling. It is also a good idea to put the pins in once you are loaded and the ramps lowered so that the ramp cannot go further down than you need. I usually pinned all four corners before starting my trip.

Great safety tip G/man only thing I'd add is when you pin while loading I wouldn't recommend pinning the ramps all the way up. If they freeze up you'll want that wiggle room.

Tip for someone new to carhaul. Cutting Corners is a bad habit to get into. It is like running across the street without looking...you may make it across 9 times, the 10th time and splat. Anyone who goes under a loaded raised deck without the pins set for safety is a fool. Ever see a line break and a deck come down?? It comes down way faster than you can get out of there. The cemetery is loaded with corner cutters.

I concur with GMAN and Colorato - I leave four holes clear in the post
