roadmedic, I'm glad to hear that those were the slickest conditions you ever drove in. That was my final stretch as a trainee and I was wondering what the heck I got my self into.

We pulled into a truck stop in Monroe Il around 11 am and called it a day. The trucks that were fueling there were getting stuck in the fuel island. The operators of the truck stop were kind enough to sell the truckers sand to get out of the fuel island.

I did get a chance to meet several drivers as we visited in the middle of I 90 and discussed road maintenance issues. By the way there was no sand or salt. I was born and raised in Minnesota and have never seen a situation like last wed / thursday south of Madison.

i cant belive that anyone would drive into that storm. the warnings were up wake up people. wisc should have CLOSED THE ROAD at least then you could wine sitting in a truck stop , that is where you needed to be in first place .salt does not work with that much snow. it only makes it worse, turns the snow into slush witch freezes later. making for frozen ruts.think ahead next time and preplan be safe out there
