Ive Been looking at the different pay scales on the website and im just wondering what everyones opinion is on them. I was thinking Non-Per Diem Practical would be the way to go but im still undecided as to which would be best. Any input would be great.
Thanks

The one that pays the most!

NEVER take any scale that involves a per diem! Straight pay, practical miles, and W-2! -
Straight pay and HHG.
-
percentage????
-
stay away from HHG

Straight & Practical.. that .02 cpm you get for HHG doesn't make up for the miles you miss out on.

Ill get bashed for this but I dont care. I chose HHG per diem, out of four really close friends on straight/ practical i bring home the most. They also go home twice before I do once though. Work ethic, is the best pay package.

the hhg and practical equal out in the end. so it doesnt matter which one you take really. there are a few threads on here about the decision. A couple of the guys posted the miles for both to places that we traveled to alot. the other side of the coin also has a few threads on here. I took per diem for a few reasons. extra vacation, more money on my check each week, and more bonuses. the main problem with per diem isnt really a problem anymore. the biggest argument against per diem is that if you were to try and get a car or home loan the amount that it shows you made is lower than you actually make. because they take the numbers from your w-2 and that shows how much of your money is taxable. so instead of say $40000 for the year it shows you only made $28000. now this problem is almost non existant anymore because per diem has been out for a long time now and most loan places know how to look at the correct numbers. if not you just find someone else who has worked with it before. the other problem is that if you are not careful with your w-2 choices you could possibly owe money at the end of the year to the irs. basically with your tax refund you are actually over paying the government over the year and they give you back the amount you overpaid. with per diem most of the time you get back way less but you get more on your paychecks. I made the argument that you should never just let the government hold onto your money for no interest. but people argue with me about it so i just dont mention it anymore most of the time. I would rather get more on my check now and invest that money in some kind of account that gains intrest so instead of the $1000 i would get back at tax time i would actually have more like $1200. Now before anyone jumps in and says crap about my numbers these are all just random numbers that i made up off the top of my head.
So really its up to you and what you would rather have. I knew i wasnt going to stay with millis very long so i took the per diem to get the extra vacation time. but you may not really care about being home or vacation time. everyone is different. Also you can change your mind later if you want.
