How strict are the Nazis being this year?

I have some loads going down there. If it's anything like NY, I'm not worried.

Should I borrow a dog from the shelter to be able to idle? :biggrin_2559:

Seems like everywhere I go around L.A. trucks are idling. I spent yesterday at the TA in Ontario and all the trucks seem to be idling or have an APU running. The last I heard they changed the law on having a pet and no exemption from idling, but not sure if it is true or just hearsay.

Why does anyone want to idle in 72 degree weather ? Overnight is in the 60's.

I'm based in CA and I can't tell any difference in the percentage of trucks idling at truck stops versus other areas of the country. Nor have I heard of any cases where the law has been enforced.

... and then truckers wonder why communities are so frequently against adding more truck parking. Noisy idling and poor sanitation habits. Might be rather refreshing to have a truck stop that really had a no idle policy with teeth and security cameras to catch the idiots pissing in the lot or leaving garbage (while also providing more convenient port-a-potties or small restrooms around the lot).

I wish for those temperatures. I see high 80's and 90's. I am in Tehachapi right now and it is still mid 70's at 9:30 at night. I am not idling, but the ProStar beside me sounds like it will take off for a mission to Mars at any second.

I don't like to say bad things about other people's work, but you want to see the desperation? This guy was attempting to pull over a rig. http://blog.pe.com/2013/08/14/riverside-chp-officer-crashes-with-big-rig/

Last summer we were at the 49'er in Sacramento and the police came through writing tickets to every truck idling that did not have a clean idle sticker. It was in the mid 90's and they wrote a lot of tickets. Asinine. We had a 2012 so no ticket but expecting drivers to turn off the a/c in their "home" is just wrong.

Maybe you should stop the next time you see a bear sitting on the side of the road and tell him to shut his engine off as well. We all know they are not sitting in their cruiser's with the engine off. Also if you leave your pet in the car you get charged with animal cruelty, but if you are a truck driver its not a big deal.:biggrin_25510:
