Was looking for info about clutches and found this on Eaton site:
Eaton and Volvo engineers teamed together to create catapult release fork and hydraulic release system that works exceptionally well with a Solo Advantage clutch.
If you replace the self-adjusting clutch with a mechanically adjusted clutch, you're potentially setting yourself up for failure.
When a manual adjusted clutch is used with a hydraulic release system, the driver cannot detect the need for clutch adjustment due to incorrect release bearing position. This can result in damage to the clutch and the
hydraulic release system components. Plus, not properly maintaining clutch adjustment can affect the performance and life of the clutch.
That's why you should only use the Solo Advantage Self-adjusting clutch as a replacement.
So that would be the best option for my 2001 or just manufacturer bla bla self-ad ???
Thanks!

95% of our fleet uses the solo clutch. They are nice. No need for periodic adjustment. As for what they said, I do know that on the eaton trans/volvo setup with the slave cylinder mounted to the bottom of the clutch cover it is almost impossible to adjust the old style clutch with the 5/8" hex. Everything is in the way and it is a two person job. That is just another reason we went with solo clutches.

Its just an ad our whole fleet uses manual adjust clutches and there is nothing better in my opinion you can tell when u need to adjust on volvo because the pedal is going to touch the floor and the clutch pedal release will be to far up eaton we only use eaton clutches theyre the best but as far as a solo disc its bs there is no difference we prefer the manual adjust because a lot of the self adjust clutchs the trucls came with the adjustment was getting stuck and not adjust properly and there was nothing we could do about it besides replace the clutch with a manual adjust its never going to get stuck u just have to be able to know youre truck and figure out when it needs to be asjusted

in Europe they use to install organic clutch (single disk), runs about 300-500K. But if no clutch servo really hard to depress pedal.
I used easy pedal, may be I'm wrong but solo is harder to depress -
Adjusters on Solo clutches seize and only thing to do is to replace them. On the other hand my lasted 750K. So how long are you planning on keeping your truck?
Desertrat22outlaw Thanks this. -
honestly the amount of tranny work we do at my dealer we sell more easy pedal clutchs then solo, and our regular customers are very happy with them.

I am a firm believer in manual adjusting clutches. However there are certain chassis that are better to use solo. The vn models 2005 area have the hyd fork mounted under the bell housing and beside is a little inspection hole. This hole is to small to make manual adjusting the clutch very difficult. In this case a solo is ideal if it works. I still do not have a strong trust with solo. The newer Volvos have moved the fork assy over more and have gone back to the normal size inspection hole. In this model I would install a manual adjusting clutch.
