I don't mind running 150 -300 miles. Even though that probably wouldn't be local so much. If I could stay closer then that then great but I wouldn't mind the 150-300 mile run.

get a road truck and run LTL out of Chicago.
-
Crazy d do you think there's enough work doing that.
-
great conversation! i'm just north of you in wisconsin and i'm ready to buy a tractor myself. i was thinking daycab to run intermodals, but a small coffin sleeper would be nice too. looking to stay as local as possible.
-
uhm does a bear poop in the woods? Yes. If you want to be home every week and are willing to run then I would say go for it. You can make enough to bounce home empty if ya can't find an easy load. Heck I just bounced back from Florida empty. No worries.

Yea same here freedomtrucking, I was thinking about a day cab as well but from some of the replies it sounds like a coffin sleeper is the way to go. I would consider intermodal but I'm not sure exactly how that works and what the moneys like. I too would like to be home everyday but I'm not against the occational overnight run. I just want to make sure I can get the work before I dive in if you know whst I mean.

Buy you a normal sleeper. Stay away from intermodal as the rates through this area on that stuff is not that good. You'd be lucky to clear 1500 a week after everything running intermodal in the Chicago area.

Thanks for the advice crazy d. Just wanted to clarify what you mean by home weekly, do you mean home every weekend or every day? Thanks again for the info.
