quite the opposite for me lol
I have lost 37 lbs in 3 months so far and I do just like the guy above who parks at the back and walks, I also try to do at least a little bit physical in my truck doing push ups etc. I am also trying to eat better, not snacking all day long etc. If im at home my wife tries to feed me all day even when I dont want to.
also I feel paying $15 for a meal is yes expensive, I cant eat enough in a sitting these days to make it worth the cost, for steak I think sizzler has a better tasting one for $10
I have spent more on meals but I dont do it very often, I spent $19 on a seafood platter and a mug of hefeweizen a few weeks ago when I was down for a couple days. -
How about a NON CHAIN place for once?
Sad that theses trucks stops charge such a high monthly lease for the restarunt space, that only the chains can afford the lease>
Chains have the same dull boring menu from Califorina to Maine, Washington to Florida
gokiddogo and RedForeman Thank this. -
Texas Best at I-20 exit 571A Tyler, TX has a Sonic in it, as do a few other locations I believe. Their BBQ is not as good as the Sonic. Sorry for enabling your habit LOL. My weakness is In-n-Out burgers. Unfortunate since we don't go west of TX. However, the Rockwall, TX T/A has one across the street, but it's a hike. Easier to walk it off afterwards and their shakes are top shelf too.
I like a fresh meal served on a real plate once every day or two. Denny's, by far, is the most predictable place to get that. They also buy better quality food inventory than the TA/Petro restaurants. It's like Petro food managers just go with the cheaper grade B groceries since they're just feeding truckers so it won't matter.
What PFJ needs to do is visit a QuikTrip truck stop some time and copy their prepackaged foods. Or QT just needs to put in showers LOL. If I can get some QT taquitos and some apple iced tea I can pass on Denny's. I was at one where they were giving away sandwich samples and they were really good too.Clyde07 Thanks this. -
Agreed. Don't see many, but QT seems to want to get into the truckstop biz. Very good products.

Kwik Trip (Kwik Star in Iowa) has, but just in MN WI and Iowa, and not every place they have is a good place for trucks to stop.
The bigger ones do have showers, but only just a few of them, they have good coffee and a rewards program in place..
Caseys General Store has gotten into it in a few places, they bought the Just Diesel truck stop south of Cedar Rapids, IA and converted that into a Casey's General Store and Truckstop. There are others but I run limited lanes in Iowa, so I don't remember where they are at.
There has been some switching around, and they have also acquired some of the Kum And Go locations, while others are still there as Kum and Go. That company, Kum and Go, got into the fuel business but not showers that I have seen.
FS, Fast Stops, formerly Farm Service, also has a few places here and there.
Pilot bought out the independent in northeast Austin, MN, along I-90, and they kept the restaurant there, not a chain, open at this time. -
that's interesting.
-
I was in on out east (sorry don't remember where) they had no Denny's or anything. But they were putting in a golden corral.
-
Wonder how long till the restarumt is forced to close, so Pilot can put in a subaway

While were on the subject ... I like Rutters and their automated ordering system ... Go in tell them which pump to turn on, walk over to the order screen take 2 minutes to punch up my order ... go fuel, walk back in, pay for my fuel, food and drinks, go pick up food that has now been prepared while I was fueling and leave.
double yellow Thanks this.
