    Hi all,

I went to Truck Driving School in California about 20 years ago and I cannot remember the name of the school. I drove for only about a year or so before deciding to stop. (I was too young and it wasn't for me).. I'm reconsidering driving again but I live in CT now and I'm wondering if anyone knows the process. Would I need to go to school all over again here in CT? Or is there some sort of refresher course I'd be able to take etc..

Thanks for information anyone may have.

I just remembered, it was United States Truck Driving School.. I guess I should call them and see what options they have.

Yep, more than likely you would have to go back to school again. Most carriers and companies want that schooling. Some will take you on, perhaps an owner-op and there are a few who continue to obtain their CDL without school these days but they are the deviation and not the norm.

Thanks for the info 900, I appreciate it. Ugh... being able to afford to go to school again won't be an option. This is rough. :(

But thanks a bunch for your time. Be safe.

There are options, you know. Check out WIA grants. Each state has an allotment of funds. Also, as a last resort, you can go to a trucking company that trains.

Even if you go back to school, you can still do this with only about $100.00 processing fee out-of-pocket with a company like Prime Inc. or Swift.

JBS Carriers will pay for Roadmaster school for a one year contract.

CRST has some type of deal for an 8 month contract.

    FFE
    Central Refrigerated
    Stevens Transport

Check all these websites and maybe there's a fit for you.

I got an Honorable discharge in 1987. In that time they gave me very few benefits. Do you think that I will be able to get the VA to pay for my training ? I have a CDL , but need a refresher course.
