The DOT are especially busy on 59 just north or Houston. I think every time I go through there there are trucks pulled over. The feds should NEVER have allowed every municipality who wants to be DOT certified to do it. These people have gone crazy.

That's what I'm saying, they've lost their minds! The dot guy that inspected me the other day said watch this guy ( going over scale) he's nervous bc we are out here..What a SHMUCK! I smell law suits sooner or later for harassment! You've got guys out here saying,if you are clean it's all good, but they're going way beyond safety issues!

Beaumont is starting to nail people around ford park seen on the news one day that every 3 weeks they do a road check style inspection for a week and there goal is to check 100 trucks some of you may have even seen them on the feeder road they have portable scales out and a group that checks the trucks the motor bikes round them up

City of Longview TX have their own DOT and they have 2 motorcycle cops who also are DOT officers . The way they work is the M/C cop pulls you over and then the SUV officer shows up . They love to get their coveralls on and crawl under your truck and trailer . God help u if they find ANY KIND of wet spot around a wheel seal if it is damp it is a leak according to them . They make ARK DOT look like your friend .

I read somewhere recently can't remember where though . That OW tickets are not part of CSA , or not going to be in the future . Ill try to find a link to the article , or if someone finds it before me they may post it .

I do know it specifically mentioned OW tickets and CSA points , and how they will not count , I just can't remember the full details or how it was worded , such as a Level 1-2-or 3 or just a strait OW

ill check and see if I can round it up

Geez how in the WORLD did I land on a thread with a bunch of easy going, helpful, non argument-able folks? Lol :biggrin_255: This is great and probably why someone started this forum -to help each other out.

Thank you for all your input, this O.W. thing is really worrying me,bc Im usually in a spot to where it's very hard to fix the problem, and I cringe every time I have to go that particular shipper!
Im thinking very seriously of purchasing my own trailer or at the very least, getting into a gig where I have the same trailer and able to maintain it myself and know whats going on at all times. For some reason this carrier seems to not care, and just pushes you. I thought most companies would appreciate you wanting to be compliant, but I'm finding out since I left the "bedbugging" industry that these freight hauling companies actually don't care, just keep moving regardless.

Seriously ,these d.o.t. workers have no idea how we are really trying for the most part ALL of us try our best to be compliant, and i don't think they realize what's at stake. It's a domino effect. Your lively hood is always up in arms with this points game. And like 19988pete was saying, they're crawling under and JUST WANTING TO FIND ANYTHING... there goes your score. I really think this is just harassment at its best. I just wonder how many "good inspections" they have logged. I'd be really interested to find that info. There should be an entity that THEY have to answer too,to make sure it's not just a revenue quota!!!

Hmmm. I may be on to something here...:biggrin_25523:
