Well I can see how new o/o's can't survive when they start out and struggle.

If the ITS "Days to Pay" is 31 days or more or if ITS rating is not an "A" they are COD.

My average is around 21 days and I stress to all customers I credit report all payment history to ITS good or bad. No matter what contract says the clock starts ticking the day the load is delivered with invoice, RC and POD faxed from truck when it is delivered along with originals in mail same day. Most of the reputable brokers/shippers will accept a fax copy only.

I did not deal with many brokers but the ones i did all paid in 30 days or less. The majority i delt with paid with direct deposit within 72 hours or had quick pay with 2.5% or less for a fee. Some charged no fee at all. There are plenty of brokers out there that pay quick and on time and take faxed paper work for pod. IMO and experience if a broker or even a direct shipper can not pay in 30 days or less they more often than not have a cash problem and to stay away, period.

That's good to hear not all payments are recieved real late. 21 days doesn't seem to bad either.

Here is what I deal with pick the load up 4-7 to deliver 3-5 day to get the papers to them ( send by Priority mail with email tracking) then 30 days after that soI need 3-4 grand a week for running money at 5-6 weeks to get paid so thats 24,00.00 in the bank to have on hand. Dont I say dont get a advance then your working at the brokers rate YOU SET THE RATE NOT THEM. Start at $3.00 a mile You can always go down on a rate but never Up also set how long you will wait to get loaded and unloaded and have that on the rate confermation and set the Hourly rate for Waiting ( I do 2hrs to load and 2 hours Unload the $100.00 an Hour and get this on the rate sheet ) and when they bak " Sorry have another call and hang up.
