I've searched but cannot find an answer to this...how often should the air dryer cartridge/filter be changed?
2007 Volvo 780 D12 792k miles
I've had the purge valve rebuilt recently due to a leak, is there anything else that should be done to the air dryer and governor assembly on a regular basis?

Bendix recommends every 3 years for typical linehaul trucks.... cheaper models should probably be done annually, or, at most, every 2 years... that's just me being paranoid, though.
RogueX Thanks this. -
1 am into change when water is 1st seen at wet tank BUT NOW is good before cold hits

It's just a dessicant filter, not expensive.
-
Yeah... the one for my truck is about $35 from Freightliner ... not too bad... about $12 per year of service... -
smaller european cartridge must be changed every year, but, on version-2 electronic dryes were used and with electronic air processor change it when message on dashboard appeares (and compressor cycles too oftern, every minute), but you need VCADS ore PTT to reset it.
really the first step to do is to identify air driyer. Wabco, Haldex, Knorr Bremse and Bendix are used on Volvos. But really "big" cartrige is 3 year, small - 1 yearSensation Thanks this. -
If it's going on 7 years old and never been done you could even go the exchange route and just replace. It's not expensive either. Then you have a year's warranty as well.

That's what I'm talking about. Replacing the filter. I've only had it since October 2011@593k miles. Not much history known, other than what I've done obviously.

Well if you go exchange then everything's done. Filter, purge valve and heater element.

It is a Meritor Wabco. Looks about half as long and just as wide as an oil filter.
