since I'm from the DFW area and May has no terminals here that I know of..the recruiter said I'd have to park at a truckstop or find somewhere near home...does that sound right?

    Thanks,
    Mary

Each company has a different policy on this, Some do it as you are describing and others will find a secure location for you and require the truck stored there, and some will allow you to drop the trailer somewhere and bobtail home. It really just depends on who you will be driving for. Also before leaving a truck unattended at a truck stop for an extended period of time be sure to check that they allow that.

Yep... most companies don't really want you to park your rig in a residential spot... tends to get them towed... best advice: find a Walmart nearby that allows overnight parking...

You will have to talk wih your future OCM for whatever terminal they put you in. You should have no problem leaving at a truck stop. If you leave it at the TA, they might reimburse for parking too.

If you do not live near a terminal, you are required to find a secure place to park your truck and trailer during hometime, usually this is a nearby truckstop. You are very rarely without a trailer, and not supposed to bobtail without permission, which you probably won't get.

There's a Walmart close to where I live that has a couple extra spots, nowhere near any doors. I do see other companies trucks parked there at different times.
There's no May terminals in Texas...... which the recruiter knows because she's a former driver...
what do they mean by "secure"?

    thanks

Secure within reason ... Even Mays old Fontana yard that was fenced in and had 24 hour private security, had breakins with trailers, having Fizio TV's stolen from 2 trailers. Unfortunately, it was the private security that was breaking in and stealing .. I was there the night/morning they got busted ..
