I have my personal vehicle here with me, so I'll drive it down there. TWT drivers do not take the trucks home when off. We're going to be moving to the Huntsville/Decatur area soon. Between now & then, if I'm home thru the week, I'll stay at my mother-in-law's in Huntsville. If home on a weekend, my bride will either come over to Huntsville, or I'll just make the 2.5-hour (one way) commute.
Start at McElroy on Monday!

Well I hope you and your bride get moved soon. I know it can be challenging while you are out and she is at home.

Hey man, thans for this thread. I'm trying to decide between MCElroy and Avritt. McElroy sort of has the lead because I cant find honost negative remarks. Here is my question for: The recruiter who came said that we would start at $850.00 a week However he said that he knows McElroy drivers who hustle and make 100,000.000 a year. Is he being truthful, is that possible?

$850 is very doable. Some weeks will be more, some will be less, but $850 will be average. -

So how are things going since you went to tidewater? I hope you are enjoying it and I guess you should have your own truck now. Hope you enjoy it and remember that aint a flatbed behind you when you are in a curve.

I've been pulling both types of tanks, both loaded & unloaded. I really think pulling the flatbed has helped me in terms of pulling the loaded tanks. Sure, there was no surge with the flat, but considering how top heavy our loads were, as well as the extra care taken when hauling coils, slowing way down for curves, exits, etc. is something I was used to. Each trainer with whom I've driven here at TWT have all said basically them same thing: "Well, your driving is just fine; you've got that down." One fell asleep a few times while we were headed to drop a load. lol Had a good laugh with the lead trainer at this terminal about that the next day. Later, while I was driving to a customer, he said, "Well, now i can see why he fell asleep!" lolLast edited: Aug 27, 2013
