That I couldn't tell you, I imagine those on the central side will be called swift refrigerated or something like that. So at this point it really comes down to would you rather pull a box or a reefer?

Good point. Something I didn't really think about.Chinatown Thanks this.

I'd go with Central Refrigerated if it were me.
Jerry Moyes owns Swift. He bought a bankrupt reefer outfit, changed the name to Central Refrigerated, and brought the company back to life. The guy is smart and knows what he's doing; that's why Swift and Central Refrigerated are both successful companies.
The reason I prefer Central Refrigerated is because it's a reefer outfit & Swift is dry van. You can haul refrigerated or dry loads with Central, but can only haul dry loads with Swift. So, your chances of better paychecks increase with Central because you can haul more variety of loads and keep the wheels turning.
Once you get that experience & want to work closer to home, then you are qualified to go to trans-system in WA.GoVikings Thanks this. -
Swift already is pulling reefers. The acquisition of Central Refrigerated increased their share of the reefer market. Swift also gives you the option of hauling flatbed. So if you aren't yet sure which type of cargo you want to haul and want options within the same company, then Swift would be the better option. They have training for each of the divisions.

Yes, Swift has a good mix of most everything, van, reefer, flatbed, intermodal; depends on where you live though for some of it. Majority of Swift is dry van. Just ask questions to the company about the hiring area you're in for the different divisions.

I've decided to go with Central. I am catching the bus on Saturday and make the 18hr bus ride to SLC to start training on Monday the 26th!
-
Are you going for training or already have your class a?
-
Going for training.
-
I supposed to been left thinking hard about calling back. I'll have stay in GA for week before being shipped to Salt Lake City. Central has the fastest training process 2 weeks training and on the road for 5
-
Not a bad choice. Just tune out everything else for a couple weeks, dive into it and apply yourself. You've got to pass everything and obtain your CDL. Then the training will actually begin. Of course, remember to take the attitude that the training will never end and you'll do fine.GoVikings Thanks this.
