I'm dealing with the same issue. Mine doesn't do it all the time....comes and goes. I have a general Hp 40w with dual Wilson 2000's. Just bought 2 monkey mades but I want to get this issue fixed first. My swr's near perfect. Don't know if an ungrounded antennae would mess with my swr's. I have my radio ran into the fuse box....hooked to the accessory plugs. My cb guy told me to just turn my Mic gain down but it still does it and turns the mics volume down....its set a 9 o'lock. I know its a ground issue...just dont know where. Gonna pull the washers out of my antennaes and ground the negative wire to the body in the morning. Hopefully this fixes it.

Don't blame you but something is missing, a proper ground.

Yes it would, how are you checking the SWR?

That's aright, but that's not the problem. you need to ground the antennas and the radio to the chassis of the truck somehow.

That's a first, I would think that the guy is clueless.

    What washers?

I would get some braided copper straps and use that as a ground, checking the mirrors for a proper ground and take one and use it for the radio.

This is what I use...It comes tubular shaped, but all you have to do is flatten it out, cut to length, and then what I do is I heat each end with a propane torch (from Home Depot) and stick a little solder on the ends, then use a self-tapping screw and attach the strap...

As for the Mic-Shock, quick-cure for that is to run a ground strap off one of the cover screws on the radio, and attach the other end somewhere on the firewall...no more shock!

This can be caused when you don't mount your radio to something metal.

I grounded the ground off the power cord to another spot up under the dash and it finally fixed my mic burn problems.

Georgia Copper pretty much sells just that, in various dimensions, as well as nearly any conceivable hardware with which to use it. It's not cheap, of course, because it's, well, copper :) Some places seem to confuse Cu with Au when they price it.....

Mine was doing the same thing. I took my fire stick off and put a predator 10K K-1-27 on my truck. Problem solved.

They need to manufacture and sell a mic that does that any time the user swears
