CRETE - A Year in Review

Supersnack, there is a nice city smack dab right in betwwen Dallas and Fort Worth called Grand Prairie. You should check it out....it's a nice place.

Uh-oh, got a decent load after my last horrific couple (combined total of 9 hours dock time). As has happened before, my terminal manager sends me an ominous message just before she leaves her office for home - how convenient. I have to route through Lincoln and go to a special chewing out. It will be interesting how they spin this one since it's supposedly regarding when my AM cancelled my vacation after it had been authorized a month prior.

 

How do ya'll request destinations other than home? Is there a canned message for that? I had a driver that's been with Crete for 11 years tell me we are allowed to request a special destination twice a year. Is that accurate? Thx.

 

They okd it for me to spend a vacation with my wife, in Texas. I didnt know there was a limit on it. My trainer said he did it so I just requested it through my AM.

 

I requested home time in various places on several occasions and never had a problem with getting to any of them.

 

I can officially say that I68 in Maryland officially SUX at 76K pounds!

Made it to Hagerstown after 10:42 hours-o-drivin' fun. I will have to get my first three stops done ASAP (all are open appt.s 0730 to 1600) and then head to the T/A in Jessup for a 10 hour break then hit Glenn Burnie after 22:30 to drop off....GET THIS....TWO fricken pallets! I can't believe these people at the cons. NO receiving before 22:30 After that stop it's up to either Elkton or on to the last stop where they said I could park over night. Only good thing is I will being hitting Baltimore around midnight so traffic should be light

 

It may suck at 76K pounds, but it's arguably one of the most beautiful drives in this country.

And now I'm at the Houston North flyin' hook (I-45 exit 64) next to a FFE truck that's high-idling (and coughing and sputtering while doing it) and an OLD International 9300 with the loudest air overpressure release ever.

Aaaand a guy just rolled up in a smallish black SUV and tried to pull the classic 'white van scam' on me. I guess it says a lot about the state of society that these guys are still doing that crap...must be lots of stupid people that fall for it.

 

Selling speakers? I love analyzing and observing various scams like 3 card Monty or some of the confidence scams.
