My current job with UPS Freight (for another 3 days anyway) has banned use of cell phones for the past 5 years, so I know what you mean. As of right now, Walmart has not banned use of (hands free) cell phones. There seems to be some discussion about future changes possibly occurring, but nothing banned yet.

Thanks. I saw openings for the DC in Brooksville, FL (North of Tampa) just a few weeks ago at the drive4walmart.com site. You could always do what many drivers have done and just get your foot in the door and get hired at a different DC, then look to transfer after the first year is up.mje Thanks this.

id just be happy to get on!! I can work around how I use my phone pretty easily.. I noticed in one post it said something about a credit check..... I have no criminal record of any kind but recently went through a divorce so my credit isn't all that great right now. was kinda hoping to get on at walmart and use the extra cash to get it back to the good. wasn't aware that was part of the hiring process too

thats just my luck on the Brooksville ... ive pretty much decided im willing to just go about anywhere for my first year. prefer to stay down south somewhere.

I just went through the process in the past few weeks. They ran a criminal background check and a check of my credit in regards to any criminal activity, such as writing bad checks (which is a crime), but not a check of my credit like one would do to apply for a loan. I do not believe what your credit score may be is a problem as long as there is no criminal activity tied to it as mentioned (writing bad checks).

Less than 3 months, give or take a few weeks, depending on how soon after a job listing was posted that you apply. I applied on May 21, was contacted on June 28 to set up an interview for July 15. I was contacted for the second interview on July 24 (second interview 2 days later on July 26). I was made the official job offer last Thursday, August 15. Orientation will start on August 27. In my case, they just started using a new electronic background check system, which due to some technical glitches caused a longer than normal delay to get the results, even though it used the same source of data as the old paper forms process. Normally there would be a gap of 3-4 weeks from the time official offer is made until when orientation starts. I agreed to go to orientation on August 27, even though I would be giving my employer less than 2 weeks notice. I could have stated I needed the 2 weeks notice and Walmart would have pushed up the orientation start date. Since the other 2 drivers in the same orientation class were ok with the August 27 orientation date, I decided to make it unanimous!

So, all in all just about 3 months. The time went by fast, to me anyway.
mje Thanks this.
