In regards to the cell phone policy currently in place at Wal~mart at this time (completely effective on October 1st and written copies to be handed out if wanted at the time if there are no changes between now and then) phone conversations no longer than 10 mins, no more than 60 mins for the entire on-duty day. Associates are not to be on the phone at all during high traffic, bad weather, etc. Random phone audits are being done at four selected DC's across the country. Sealy is not one. If you are involved in an accident (greater than $1000) you will be asked to submit a copy of your records.
There is more but too tired. Tom you will get all this next week. Night ya'll.mje Thanks this. -
Thanks Matt. These are new details emerging. From what you say, it does not sound too bad. Better than a complete ban. I am sure this will be discussed at orientation next week.
mje Thanks this. -
I'm sure you got a tour of the office and saw your 'mailbox'. You'll get all the info you need in there, check it at every opportunity. I got a letter in mine last week 'inviting' me to a mandatory safety meeting coming up, the topic of which is the new upcoming cell-phone policy. Looks like there will be a complete ban on them, if the info from the recent 'grass-roots' meeting is accurate. I know some guys will be devastated by this, LOL, and it will suck, but I really don't use it much anyway right now, trying to focus on unfamiliar territory (along with a good dose of FAMILIARITY having been to many stores previously my first year with JB Hunt doing grocery out of 6096 Johnstown NY) and learning all I need to learn, so this, for us new guys anyway, should be an easier transition than it will be for the guys who've been used to yapping all day long on the phone. Times are changing, and it's their company, so if I wanna work there, I gotta do what they tell me.mje Thanks this.

Hey Jim, what shirt style did you pick for yourself? The cell phone policy really is not a complete ban, its just way more limited. I don't use mine much either unless there is a problem and I have to call my office or the ROC. I am sure there will be drivers who will ignore the policy and keep having their 3 way phone calls.
mje Thanks this. -
I went with the white single-pocket, though I wish now I'd picked the double pocket ones, look a little more dressy, but too late now LOL. I'm happy though...or at least I WILL be if I ever get them! Can't understand what takes so long to put a name tag and some patches on a few shirts LOL. They come on Tuesdays so hopefully they'll be there when I go back tomorrow...here's to hoping!
mje Thanks this. -
Wow, only one pocket? We got the choice of three different style shirts. White, blue and a TX style with snaps. All have double pockets and we also had to a choice of three different style pants. Dickies, and two different style jeans. I chose white and rangler style jeans to fit the whole Texas look! lol We use Armark down here and it took about three weeks to get them, about 12 shirts and 10 pants. Jackets will be ordered around Oct. or Nov. when it actually gets cold here.

I wish I would have picked more shorts. I don't know what I was thinking. LOL I think it was about 3 weeks to get mine, also.
The one hour of talk time, per 11hr drive time, is what I have heard. That is to be limited to 10 minute intervals, and does not count if you have to talk to the company (although I pretty much always do that when sitting still). If not driving, you can talk as much as you want. Not a big deal, really. I do talk to the wife periodically during the day, but she will keep track of it.
I have my class tomorrow. They will probably feed us.
Nice day at home. Am watching the Mecum car auctions right now, and have been working on the classic car. Son is off of school today, so we are doing the quality time thing. We are making Pork Carnitas. Yummm...................
mje Thanks this. -
They gave me ONE pair of pants and two jackets, which I won't need even up here for a while. Hoping my locker is full of uniforms when I go in tomorrow. And we don't get the option for shorts (we can wear them but they don't provide them), but we get 21 pants, 21 shirts and 2 jackets...at least that's what I'm SUPPOSED to have LOL.
mje and Buzzard2157 Thank this.
