The first question you must ask yourself (and be painfully honest!), is the item, animal or whatever you're trying to deduct something that produces or protects an entity that makes taxable income?
So if you're saying the dog is security, what have you on board that requires above normal protection and how does the dog do it in a fashion that is needed? Can another product do the same job easier and cheaper (such as an alarm).
If you answer yes to the above question, ask the IRS for a letter of determination. If they say yes, you're covered for any subsequent deductions.
The amount of money you may save in a gray area will be likely wiped out by an audit that moves beyond the dog care to every other item they decide...and for which you may have not saved or lost receipts.
    Think of it this way:
If you have a tail light or marker light out, it allows the police to stop you and from there they can dig almost anywhere.

No it isn't allowed, the dog as security from what I was told by the IRS has to be with the truck pretty much 24/7 to qualify as a deduction. Which means when you go home, the dog stays with the truck.

I agree totally. If you,or anyone for that matter finds a way to help increase your check,or reduce taxes, have at it.
Im never gonna get offended by that. We've currently got soo many schnooks(politicians) spending "our" tax money on stupid-s..
    its disgusting.
I would much rather see a trucker get a break on a dog, than never know where my money goes.Like to some country
Ive never seen, that hates us.That doesent bother some of the sheep, but Im tired of being taxed for things that will never benefit
    me,EVER!! A
Dog..thats a different story..I trust ALL my dogs.Theyre good people
