Half of the trucks at SNI have the Battery Powered A/C Unit that allows you to get cool air circulated in the truck without idling. ALL SNI trucks have a Bunk Heater. Onlt time you will see an actual APU on a SNI truck is if it is a Leased Truck or Owner-Operator Truck. Previously SNI this last year installed Ambient Sensors on all the trucks which allows the truck to Idle if it is warmer than 70F or if it is colder than I think 10F. Earlier this year the Sensors were not working at all.. I was in -14F and truck would not idle...lol But SNI has pretty much fixed the issue on all the trucks. I idle all the time. If it is below 70F you should be comfortable enough to not need to worry about idling.

i gotta ask KoolKid, what did you build in that pic?

I think its his portable air conditioner, it looks like he's got a fan blowing into a cooler probably filled with water and ice and then the cardboard box ducts the air somewhere. Just my guess LOL.

Half? No, not even close. They only bought about 500 trucks with those units on the back. I had one, then when I went regional, they took it from me and gave it to a southern driver. They also aren't ordering anymore, because when they break, they cost to much to fix and are tied into the bunk heater controls.

LMAO... Pretty much exactly what you said. That is back when I had a truck with a sensor that did not work and was stuck doing circles in texas... Works pretty good actually too...lol

I only say half because I see them all the time in fontana and others without. Didnt know the exact truck.. thanks for the FYI.. -
been on with schneider a few weeks now, waiting to get on the road with my trainer so i can take the final test, yes schneider does not put apu;s on company trucks, they do come on the O/O rigs, and they do all come with webasto heaters. your not allowed to physically modify your truck in pretty much any way. ill try to say this as verbatim as i can but schneider has no policy that says you cant idle your truck this much, but the less you idle the more you qualify for a larger quarterly bonus, so basically no apu, but your allowed to idle and if you keep it to a minimum you get a nice bonus

Just a question, if I have a 12v cooler will it drain the battery overnight? Or do the schneider trucks engines automatically turn on to prevent killing the battery?
-
Depends on the batteries, mine won't even run my Webasto over night without low voltage beeper waking me up
