Most states won't recognize 16 wheel lowboys so it might not be worth the hassle of having twice as many tires on the road. The majority of states will give you 45k on a tandem, so figure ~15k permitabble on your steer, 45k truck, 45k jeep, 45k trailer, 45k stinger= 195k pounds. You're saying you weigh in at 58k, plus 20k for the tractor, so that gives you a payload of 117k if you can adjust it right. Some states will allow 48 or even 50k on your tandem and more if they recognize the 16 wheels instead of just 8 per tandem. Also, a few states only allow 40k. So figure 117k payload +/- 20k depending on routes. Unless I'm missing something, it must really suck to have 58 tires on the road just to have an 87k payload in OK

States set there axle limits per axle not by how many wheels per axle?

Trunion trl. only good for most western states.
all others are by axles. Hope you did'nt buy this allready.
    Do your home work.

Your axle spacings are good. Alot of states you can get more than 40 a tandem with that spacings, but easiest figure 40 a tandam to be on the safe side

There's 9 or so states that recognize 16 wheel trailers and allow extra weight for them. In these states I believe you can get about 60k on the tandem, I don't know for sure because I don't run any 16 wheel's. Each state has their own set of weird regulations though, for example, Kansas will give you 60k on a tri, but with a 10' wide axle they give you 66k on a tri. And almost every state asks for tire size in their superload applications, they want to figure out how much pressure you put per inch of tire

In states that they give 6000 per tandem.. And you have big front in states like California.. 445 65. 22.5. You get steers 23,000 drivers 46,000 and the rest is 60,000 per tandems so jeep 60,000 trailer 60,000 and boster or the back 60,000. Total 249,000 lbs. this is good for Ca, nv, az, ut, I think they allow it on 10 in Nm, tx , la a and a few other states.
And cozad s are good well built trailers but Murray's are lighter and just as strong.. Murray is still a family owned and run business . cozad is a not owned by David Cozad anymore. Then there are Rackley custom trailers.

    FerrissWheel Thanks this.
