I just got my fingerprints taken yesterday in Cartersville the north GA location. I was told 8days to 8weeks, avg time 2-4weeks. Letter will be sent to you in the mail, but DMV will get notice before you get letter. They gave me a number to call so I could check on my status without having to wait on letter. Don't know if this number is good for your location but you can try and see. :biggrin_1square9:

it took 3 or 4 weeks to get my leter and I'm in TX. I was told to not come in for the license untill I get a letter from TX telling me to come in, that letter comes after the background check letter. I still havn't gotten that letter. It's been almost two weeks now ince I got the letter about the background check

Call the DPS office in Austin, you should have gotten the letter 4 days after the TSA Letter.

I am in California, they wouldn't issue me my new license until I got the TSA clearance. It took about 6 weeks, I had my old license in the meantime with a hole punched in the expiration date.

It's not Texas, it's the TSA, just depends on when they getter done. It took mine exactly a month from the date of my fingerprints to the reception of the TSA letter then about a week for the DMV letter to arrive.:biggrin_25518:

This is a very old post and thread obviously, however, the circumstance fits me to a tee with one caveat: after receiving the hard copy of my TX CDL in the mail with just the Tanker endorsement 1.5 weeks after taking the tests, I called TX DPS. The lady I spoke with said that because I am transferring my CDL from another state in addition to requiring a Hazmat endorsement, the wait time to receive a Haz endorsed license may be 3 months!

I've got ants in my pants, basically, and I'm trying to shake them out... I'm asking two separate questions here: approx 5 years after Lysander's post, how long is it taking for Haz endorsed licenses to arrive in the mail now, once test taking and finger printing have been completed?

Secondly, is there anyone here who has been in my circumstance where the additional burden of transferring a CDL from another state, I'm told, would significantly increase the amount of time to receive that new Haz endorsed license in the mail? If so, how long did it take you to get your license, with these TWO circumstances?

    Thanks

TSA notified the DMV directly when I got mine done. It took about 3 weeks. They told me I'd get a letter. I never got it but I had a phone number to call and check the status.

Wow! I just called this number from nearly 5.5 years ago! It is the Hazmat Call Center. I gave my personal info and the lady said my background check began on May 24th and is still in progress. She said chances are it will take about a month. She said if it goes beyond 30 days and I still haven't received my endorsement, that I can call back and they can put a notice letter into the TSA saying that its been 30 days and they need to hurry up. She said I can call back as often as I want to check the progress. I hope I don't become an obsessive compulsive personality, calling them...! ;-)

If you're still around, MorrisGray, thank you!
