    Bro. Bat,
I think you made the point for me. Skip's supposed to be prohibited, just like power amplifiers, TX sliders, extra channels, etc. So is foul language. But it all goes on on 11 Meters, so the FCC *already* can't easily enforce the regs. The FCC doesn't do anything about CB unless they receive a complaint.

Since you're in L.A., take a listen sometime to the 146.40/147.435 Mt. Wilson repeater. The pair has swapped upside down since I last lived there in 1981, but it had become *the place* for malcontents with whistles and bad language and jamming to go and be amongst (apparently) like-minded individuals.

I was at the TRW Swapmeet on time and 3 guys were walking around with graphical T-shirts, emblazoned with a caricature of a mountaintop site (Mt. Wilson is an easy landmark to spot in the L.A. basin). Above and below the pic of the hill were the legends "Mt. Wilson 146.40 Filth Festival" and "Jan 1 thru Dec 31" and "Come Join the Fun!"

It was pretty funny, cuz it described the repeater perfectly. So it happens on the ham bands, too, but the rest of us were content to let folks use that one oddball freq pairing as their little behavioral sanctuary.

If you've got a 2 Meter rig that can do odd splits, go take a listen. Well, you don't need the odd split if you only want to listen, of course. It was a CS machine when I was there, but it may well have a tone now.

I understand what ya saying but I think some of the worst can change not all but some. I gotta hook my ICOM 707 MK II G up I haven't had that rig hooked up in years need to get up to Washshington and pick up a new face plate some of my numbers have blank spots:
I usueally work 6 meter sometimes 2 in the Illinoise area or mostly over the road don't do splits and drive too risky but I'll give it a listen when I get back to L.A..
I would like to see the FCC clean up CB of the dead keys the noise toys and offenders running north of 250 watts which is pretty much what they do when they get a hair up their butts. The I 5 areas comes to mind from CA to WA and then some guy in Indiana years ago left a dead key North of Indiana active for days if not years and in Dallas a real HAM operator like to jam the airwaves with music aimed at truckers and CB the black operators with his political BS!
The FCC is underfunded BUT they will and still do go after those Monster boxes when they want to and that is a good thing IMO but I still think a few changes in the law would reduce those monster boxes because the guys would more than likely feel more included and probably see themselves in the mirror in a different light.
This subject has gotten me thinking about the dreaded morris code that I need to get back into and so I need an easy to understand and memorize CD if you have any recomendations please post it, I have my Tec class license would like to move up a notch just haven't found an easy way to learn that code dag nabbit!
I have been off the ham bands for years duu to stress about the economy and money but for sure I'm getting back into the band just bought a 2 meter mobile antenna a few months ago for my truck and a 6 meter too and so other than my faceplate which is kinda minor I'm good.

Morse code is no longer required when going up for your ham ticket.

Morris Code? Is that like MEOW MEOW MEOW meow meow meow MEOW MEOW MEOW for S O S?

Sorry....just thought it would be funny.

On a more serious note, I took my cb out of my truck a couple months ago because I never use it. I never use it because all you get anymore is "shut up stupid" etc. Rarely being much more than twenty miles from a truck stop probably doesn't help much.

I had trouble with Morse code myself when I tried to learn it. I blame that partly on the walkie talkies we had as kids. They had a graphical display of Morse code on the back. The problem is that Morse is a tonal and not a written language. So I think it screwed me up a little from the beginning.

Bro. Rat, Code was dropped in March 2007. You are really way behind all of the other Hams who upgraded.

The FCC is full of Crap...They are now banning people in the United States to ever get a ham radio license, anyone who has a felony on their record. Most wealthy hams have liked the ideal to bring forth this problem against many...its called the "Character Qualifying Assessment" before any FCC license is granted..It's not worth the headaches, Ham Radio is really not the place for good down to earth people, I noticed that ham radio is full of cry babies and robots...There are very few humans on most of the bands that like good down to earth communications instead of the occasional crap these old wealthy fools dictate. I'm more worried about the our government lying to us and trying to control us all with the the wealthy.

Really, can you point to any thing from the feds that indicate that?

The assessment that you are talking about has(had) to do with broadcast licenses, not Amateur radio. Which unless you have applied for one, it rarely comes up as an issue.

I hope the "Want-to-be" hams get busted! They are just annoying and I have never understood why they don't just get their license and use the proper frequency's..
