It has been brought to my attention by you all that the Datastar odometer will stop functioning/counting at 999,999. I have an 04 model and that is the ONLY odometer I have in the truck.

I've been pondering my options since I just flipped 900k on mine and looking to the future.

Have any of you tried installing the new style speedometer with the odometer in it into the older truck?

I can get a TelTek that will also do the job, but like the factory layout a little better

or I can just buy a hubmeter and slap it on the drive axle when it hits 1M miles.....

But really interested to know if anyone has put a new style speedo in the older truck, and how much did it cost you?

When mine stopped, I just switched over to one of the trip meters (there are two in the DataStar), made a note in my log book and IFTA report and carried on. I guess a fella could use a GPS too.

The datastar should have 6 different trip meters. Find out what part numbers can be used in your truck for the speedo. There is one guy on ebay that has a new speedo for $20.
