I apppreciate the advice. That's why I'm on here to make sure I make my one shot count. I have been driving for 15 years Otr and local. Logged over a million miles never had an accident or a moving violation. Only had 2 trucking jobs in my career. I know Its very hard to get on with Walmart. I do feel that I am a qualified candidate however.
Walmart here I come!

Another thing to remember is be extra careful fom this point on. Anything recent will knock you right off the short list. -
Thanks for the well wishes guys. He is home and doing well. He is sore and swollen. My wife said she had never seen him so scared, as when they were taking him in, as it was his first time getting anesthesia (he is 11). When she went to see him in recovery she almost passed out, and they had to put her on a gurney. I guess the nurse at Childrens Hospital told her that it is usually the Dads that pass out, and they give no warning. I imagine that is a lot of fun for the nurses.
It was hard not being there, but Friday is my Tuesday. It wasn't a serious surgery, but it did come up all of a sudden, so I didn't even try to get it off with such late notice. He is pretty much the healthiest kid out there.
Mondays are very hard, and very tiring. I have also forgotten to go off duty on a Monday. Oh well, as a wise man once said, Pooh pooh happens.
One good thing that our GTM said at the DD meeting, is they are going to put in more 6/2's as drivers have more time on their 70 due to the 30 minute break. I would love to get a 6/2 sometime, as that is my dream shift.

I hear ya. Me, full time spot with an assigned truck is waht I am lookin for. We have had 5 come open since I started and only the first guy (by luck) got one. The rest of us keep getting bumped for guys that want a full time, trnasfers who's 6 months are up, etc. Right now we have two 3/2 postions open. That one is def not for me. Juast have to be patient. I did however get a FLW. So that's good. Well 30 mins up time to roll!

mruffin, I know you wanted to be as close to the south as possible but if you meet all the requirements I would suggest Pottsville,PA or Tobyhana,Pa if they post again. Pottsville is down 30 drivers, it is the easiest dc to get into with Walmart since they always hire. Pottsville is the largest grocery dc in the country, you are close to Philly, Jersey, New York so you should be able to fly home easy. Another good thing about Pottsville is the cost of living out there is very, very cheap, you can most likely rent an entire house for $500 or less a month. Just a suggestion...

Good luck Tom, I am still waiting for the last form to come back. Brandon the hr mgr put in a request to expedite Friday morning, we are hoping for Monday so I can give my employer as close to a two weeks notice as possible. I have a chapter 13 bankruptcy from two and half years ago I hope this is not going to hold me up. I don't have anything criminal such as bad check writing or judgements, just a run of bad luck when I had four trucks of my own as a investment. Fuel sky rocked, economy went belly up, and I had a driver roll a truck.

Thanks Rob.
Is the rest of your batch of drivers being hired all cleared to start and just waiting on you to be completed? As a business owner myself along with my wife, I can say that all the obstacles put in place by the government only makes being successful more of a struggle. I would think that in your case having a bankruptcy due to a failed business is a whole lot less concerning than someone who goes out and spends, spends, spends, then cannot pay the bills when they come due and ends up filing bankruptcy. I feel confident that Walmart will view that the same and finalize you to start. As I mentioned previously, my class ended up only being 3 of us and as a result they have shortened the orientation from 5 days to 4.
I really hope you reach a conclusion soon and can start on September 9.
