I agree. Pick a DC and get hired. You can relocate a year from now. :)

Rick, I am happy your little buddy is doing ok. Have you taken him on the truck with you since joining Walmart?

The other two drivers just got finalized Thursday. I was the last to get the email with the new forms. I am sure I am just nervous about nothing, everyone I talked to thus far says don't worry about it, I am fine, even the gtm and hr mgr. With Walmart having over 7000 drivers I am certain tha I am not the only one who has a bankruptcy on a credit report.

I have to agree with the GTM & HR. I think you will be fine, especially when you see how long it took the others to get finalized. It took you guys more than 2 weeks longer than it took me and the other 2 down here. You will feel better soon when finalized and can start counting the days until orientation. With your group being real small as well, I wonder if they will shorten your orientation too, or send you to another DC for orientation. Jim (NYVET) is based out of Toby, but had to go to Pottsville for orientation. :)

Oh yeah, he loves to come, and I love to have him with me. He came with me for a week at Spring Break, and for a week at the beginning of his summer. He even has a set of jean shorts that look like mine, a blue button down the right color, and his Walmart cap. LOL The first time he came with me, we go to get in the first truck they had me going into, and there is no passenger seat. Instead, there is a cooler strapped in where the seat goes. The second truck had no bunk. The passenger seat thing happened to us the second time he came also, for the second truck we were in. Needless to say, the GTM has said that all trucks will be getting their passenger seats back. He very much likes you to bring family, and that becomes a pain in the behind for the coordinators to get you a truck.

I would have him come for fall break, but they shortened it to 1 week instead of 2. That doesn't work, as my Friday is Monday. We will see what we can work out. Maybe he will be sick on Monday. LOL He is a great kid, and shouldn't have a problem making up the work. He is also a talented guitarist (electric), and has been playing for 5 years. Yes, I am bragging a bit. LOL

    Thanks for asking.

C'mon Rick, you can tell me the truth. I have been hired by Walmart, so the secret will be safe with me. I thought there were no seats in the trucks at all. We are just supposed to sit on our wallet! :)

In all seriousness, thanks for sharing. My son is only 5, since it took so late in life to find my wife, so it will be a while before he rides with me. He is fascinated by trucks, but he is still too rambunctious to ride with me even if he were allowed to. Maybe in a few years when he grows up more he will. In the meantime, if I happen to have a drop at the Walmart or Sam's near my house, I will try and have Mama bring him over to see the truck for a few minutes.

i have been thinking about the Pottsville dc. my only concern with that one is with them being down so many drivers and always hiring how hard it would be to transfer out. id hate to get up there and get stuck since that's not anywhere close to where id like to end up.

    LOL.................. yeah, no kidding.

I was 41 when Corey was born. We were married when I was 40, and this is my first................ and last marriage. So I understand the late thing. I had a D & H at my local store, so my wife brought Corey and his friend by to see the truck. Corey is telling Freddie all about going with me, and Freddie got pics. It was pretty cool actually. You forget how excited kids get around these trucks.

You will love bringing him. The vast majority of schools and vendors are very cool about it. You do get the occasional one though.......................

I think there is a freeze on transfers until January, but eventually they have to let you go. It would be a quick easy way for you to get into Walmart, and Pottsville has nice new Peterbilts.

Rick, same here. I was 40 when I first got married in 2007. My son Robby (Robert) was born literally 9 months later when I was 41. We are on the same timeline with our families. I do look forward to having my son come along. He will be grinning from ear to ear the whole time! :)
