I have an interview with pitt-ohio. What is city p&d start times or are you on call? How easy is it to get on line-haul? Are they paid weekly? How much vacation do you get as a newbie? Are you required to shift/hossle in the yard? I am looking for an over all opinion from someone who knows p/o.

I got a call a few weeks ago from the Columbus terminal manager, interviewed last week for a linehaul positions, and it all seems a done deal. I am waiting on their verification of my current employer before I submit my 2 weeks notice. Im completely new to this world, 7 years in trucking but always irregular route, long haul, mostly gone for weeks at a time. With 5 kids at home, I need something to be home more often. (not like the kids will see me too much working the night shift...lol). Im slightly concerned about the 70 mile commute, but the terminal manager says he should be able to get me a discounted rate on a local motel for a night or 2 a week if needed. It seems legit to me, my current health insurance is costing nearly $500/month in premiums and nearly $3k a year in deductibles with no prescription, so the health ins savings alone will pay for the transportation expense. Hopefully there will be some good threads on here to see other drivers feedback, etc... A little nervous, but excited to not be gone so much anymore.

Running linehaul at night will take a about 2 weeks to get used to (at least it did for me). I did it for 7 and a half years and after I got used to it I enjoyed it. You can plan things on that schedule. I would like to do it again but nobody in my area is hiring at the moment. Hope you enjoy it.
