You know just like in all other areas everyone is either for or against pets on trucks. I was one of those who at one time had a cat on my truck,he was with me for 8 of his 14 yrs.I started at USX with him(he was 5 yrs old),I did have his front claws removed even though I am against it,due to their policy and the vets recommendation.(he was getting extremely aggressive for no reason. I frequently had people ask me "are you sure there is a cat in your truck" due to no smell or mess. It is very easy to do as long as you keep the litter clean, there are several choices of box and litter that are effective. They just have to be used. If I could tolerate the "big company attitude" I would have another one in a heartbeat.

Those that oppose pets on trucks have said it is cruel or distracting. No it is not if you 1.choose the right animal,2.train them for the truck and 3.pay attention to them when stopped. Dog owners are some of the healthiest of us due to having to take the dog out,so they get exercise as well. Cat owners have some of the lowest stress and blood pressure readings. Contrary to a lot of statements pets actually keep drivers alert and healthier than the average driver out here.

RE aggressive dogs: I have a Mastiff, and Jack Russel mix and a ####er spaniel mix. If I ever get sued for an aggressive dog hurting somebody, it's going to be because of the spaniel. The mastiff has it in him to tear somebody up, but the only time he even gets his warning look is if the thinks somebody might be a danger to the "pups" (my kids). The spaniel, on the other hand, is just mean for no reason.

RE animals in trucks: If the animal is happy, why not? Just like some people would be miserable driving for a living, some animals would be too, but lots of people love to drive and lots of animals love to ride along. I had a cat that just LOVED to go for car rides. He was a Maine Coon and adored his harness and leash too. I'd get really funny looks at rest areas when I took my cat for a walk. My mastiff also likes car rides (and often forces his way into the car when I'm getting out), but the other two dogs would rather chew their ears off. It's all in what the human/animal pair wants.
