OTR did suck but only because I was out 5-6 weeks at a time. I also had a great relationship with my dispatcher but I don't think I got any favoritism. He used to get me between 2750 and 3000 miles every week. Sometimes even more depending on circumstances. The reason was that I drove without making many stops, frequently communicated and just worked hard overall. Yes sometimes my loads were split, but too few to even mention. There's a large majority of drivers that don't hustle and I believe that's the reason that they lose loads. In most cases I had plenty of time to make it on time and I usually did. Personally, Werner has been very good to me and I have very few complaints.

Carlos, I think that everyone's experience with ANY company will be different as we are all unique in our own way. Yes researching a company is important, but your attitude and actions will dictate your path to success or failure in most cases. Of course some companies treat all drivers with disdain and disrespect, but it's not the majority of them.

What works for one doesn't always work for another.I had a perfect ontime record with Werner, picking up and delivering. They just liked keeping me out in the east coast and doing Canada loads.I blame a lot of my misfortune on the load planners not my dispatcher. My first yr with werner was great.I was getting the exp and miles. But the longer youre there as an otr driver the shorter the miles because they wanna keep the pay at poverty level. That's what I exp there talking with many drivers

That would make sense as its all about maximizing profits. I think that Werner is a good company for new drivers and also those that find dedicated accounts that fit their individual needs.

I'm not sure the load planners are the cause of our headaches. In theory I think your FM pulls a load over to his board and assigns to a driver based on delivery time, the available hours you have and will have to meet delivery schedule, ect. It's all done by computer so there is probably an algorithm used to fit all this together. My major complaint is the weekend crew and that could be due to many factors such as how many staffers are working, experience, etc. I went to P&G in Kansas City, KS on a Saturday to drop an empty. At the gate they gave me bills and a trailer number and said it was FCFS on the loads. It took 5 messages until the dispatcher was able to coordinated with the planner to assign the load to me. In all it took about 2 hours of back and forth to get it right. Lucky I had plenty of time on my 14. Sometimes I'll get stuck in an area but when it becomes intolerable I'll ask my FM to give me something in the other direction. But, through all this you have to keep an open mind about it. Sometimes it is luck of the draw.

i did my orientation in allentown, the hotel is not that bad is about a 7 minute walk from a nice restaurant( 10 dollars for a decent homemade meatloaf ) i can say that they are truly sarcastic and i used to avoid that terminal at all cost, i did otr, regional and dedicated in a 1 1/2 year building up my confidence as a driver, the pay can suck but i endure the pain now im with a way better company that treats me decent and moving to o/o soon..... suck it up butter cup!

You're dead on with that.....no one wants to make any sacrifices anymore! They want to go straight to the top without having to put in any hard work or sacrifice. Anything worthwhile in life you have to work at. That's why I call them cupcakes

I did 2 years with Werner. At first I was liking it even if sometimes they gave me a hard time. I just think that after someone have 1-2 years experience it would be better to move on in my opinion. Some stay longer for reasons but I left because there came a point where I was not making enough to take care of my responsibilities so I moved on to a better company

We all make decisions that are best for us and our situation. In my opinion it is a good company to start with. Personally I will probably stay with them because I do make good money on the account I'm on AND I'm home from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon every week.
