Ex-driver with a felony.

    Does any other experienced drivers know of any family owned trucking outfits that are looking for a driver? As the title states, yes i do have a felony (under 5 years). The felony happened in 2011 and my driving career spans from 2003 to 2007, i do not have a C.D.L. Class A, it was a 6 year CDL that i let go in 2009. If anyone wants to know more and/or can help me in any way, i'm all ears.

    Under 5 years is going to be tough, most companies go back to 7, 8 or 10 years. Get your CDL and like you stated try a mom and pop outfit that has relaxed rules that aren't set in stone. Good luck!

    Some folks will say try the CDL/company school route...but if its help you want , reach out to some companies in your area , explain your issues , and see what they advise you to do...they are the ones in control ( you know putting folks to work) , lots of guys start over with less than stellar histories behind them. Just knock on a few doors and see if you can get some info. The worst thing is they will tell you to look elsewhere , but you might get lucky. Just remember there are hundreds, if not thousands of folks with good backgrounds looking , just like you. Be realistic and don't give up. Also you might PM a guy named Chinatown on here he is the go-to guy when job hunting...Good Luck....T
