I know nothing about the APU. I've been looking into while I'm home. It's a Frigette. You may be right about the oil. I'll look into that when I get back on the truck in the morning. Fingers cross that oil is the only problem.

Well, the trouble isn't low oil level or low coolant. I guess the next thing to check is the air filter?

When you have some time somewhere you can easily get help if you need it, just park your truck and settle apu and let it do its thing. Try to drain the batteries and if the apu doesn't start up to charge them, you can get a boost to get the truck going again.

I don't know about the frigette units. But my Thermoking tripac watches the coolant temp, battery power level and will auto start to bring the temp and the batteries up to full. Only when all conditions have been met, it shuts down. Only the AC will cause the apu to run continuously.

The Frigette uses an electric water pump, it's right behind the air cleaner and mounted on the bottom of the APU case. It'll have a small 90deg coolant elbow connecting it to the motor. When that pump goes bad it stops circulating the coolant, the engine runs for about 5 min, overheats, and the engine protection control shuts it down. It's easy to replace.

This poor fella was doomed from the start. unforturnately he definitely had a sever case of O/O fever, even simple math couldn't steer him in the direction of common sense. I hope he didn't fail but his abscense from this forum for 7 months may be an indication that he has failed and is to ashamed to admit it. He shouldn't be ashamed, he isn't the first driver to try and fail. He didn't know anything about trucks and didn't do any research. I wish he would come back and tell us about his experiences so that other thinking about the flease purchase programs could learn from his success of failure.

    They're not all bad.

From some of the threads here, there are definitely some terrible companies to lease from.

I would never lease a used unit, for starters. That's a sure failure waiting to happen when things start breaking.

Many times I have gotten in and out of a shipper or receiver before our company drivers.

I even get some pretty light loads that many companies would save for their trucks.

Can't paint them all with the same brush.
