Has anyone put in Diesel Particulate Filters in trucks similar to these:

    1998 with 1.2 million miles

2000 Freightliner with 1 million miles

1998 International with 1.7 million miles

If you have installed the Diesel Particulate Filters on the trucks how have the truck been running?

Has it hurt the truck? Have there been any noticeable change in how it runs?

Lastly, How much did you pay for the filters?

Thank you for answering these questions for me. Hope to hear back soon.

The last WebEx I attended for Landstar regarding CARB had a CARB rep present. He said the average price to have a DPF installed varies from $8K up to $18K. I have a 2007 Century with an 2006 engine and I am going to try and use that low mileage provision and just come home every two months. Probably will make the Wife drive out to Phoenix to come and get me for home time from Southern Cal.

Same problem , 96 Freightliner cummins M 11 , 825.000 miles need DPF . Hate Ca ARB . Bunch of BS !!!!!! Talked to Cummis in Sac and they said something from 17 to 20 tho . But with that many miles I might need to rebuild the motor first . They want 10 to 12 tho for that .

The CARB rep acted like spending $15K was not a big problem. He said the CARB is not there to put O/O's out of business but if you are from Cal or have a strong freight base there that is exactly what is happening. They just want CPM steering wheel holders from mega-carriers moving freight in that region.

So am I and I still live here, I will take them to court if and when they ever cite me. I don't think any jury will rule against me wanting to work my way home to see my family. I even joined the ACLU to help fight this.....sometimes these arguements create strange bedfellows

Has anyone ever asked CARB, what will CA do when the smog from the other 47 states gets blown into CA? Is San Diego exempt, since TJ does not require a muffler? To many red flags with this, I feel for the guys who just finished paying for their rig, and now need to upgrade their decent rig.

by the time you add it all up between the ARB and the Overhaul expense you will find it cheaper to buy 08 truck with low miles
