Starting new trucking career. Live in Michigan. Any advice on a good company for best hometime (weekly home). Or any Michigan only routes? I know other drivers who have found these jobs, but I haven't had any luck. Any advice on how to search for these? Thanks.

Some in your area to try, Ralph Moyle in Mattawan, Sercombe, Maverick in Battle Creek, Behnke in Battle Creek, Foodliner in Springfield, Gertsen in Galesburg. Companies with yards in the area are more likely to get you home alot more. Gertsen has only day cabs so those are home every day.

Don't forget Private Carriers. Private fleets account for roughly two-thirds of all Class 8 tractors in the U.S. They probably don't advertise for drivers and have less turn over than the big truck-load common carriers. I'm thinking of Gordon Food Service as an example. They own the products they deliver and that makes them private like most of the grocery and beverage distributors.

Cant think of any private carriers in that area that take new drivers. The comapny i work for has a plant in battle creek and we only have 3 drivers there and corp wouldnt even consider a new driver. Trying to think of companies in his area that i know get back either daily or a few times during the week.

lewis howard in kzoo and R&L Carriers in Battle creek (i think) are a few others

Get talking to them now to get a feel for them and your chances. You may have to bite the bullet and go OTR for a year before some of them will even accpet your app but it doesnt hurt to try.

Check with NTB and Falcon Transport.

Maverick and EcElroy have weekend home programs.

Corrigan has some local/regional/OTR. This company is household goods movers and hires new CDL grads.
