I have a 2005 Volvo 670 cummin ISX. Since I check my oil on a daily basis, is there a way to disconnect the sensor to prevent a engine shut down and still be able to drive. I just replaced it this week and need to know this for future reference.

    Thanks

You prolly Can't, due to ECM issues.....however...you CAN install a mechanical gauge by "teeing" off the electronic sensor to get a real-time reading. Now...having said that, it won't tell the ECM crap....& if it see low O/P it may still derate. etc.

I had an oil temp sensor problem on 2007 Pete's, both ISX-475 & 500's I was driving in Reno. Always showed hot....never dropped any pressure, etc. I think Cummins got a batch of bad sensors myself...being a long-time parts dude.

Just another pain in the arse Cummins situation. They NEVER used to be that way....I dunno. Technology I 'spose.

    Good Luck

I do not know about your truck, but on my ddec 3 I had my shop guy hook his hand held comp & told him to disable any shut down mode. I had a problem a while back chasing a bad ground. engine stop light would come on & throw every code. I never want my engine to shut down in the road, due to a bad wire, or a bad sensor for that matter. I know my truck. my indicator lights on dash still work, my engine just wont shut down or derate. if the light comes on, I will pull over & turn key in on position, hit the over ride switch, count the flashes & look the code up & see what triggered it & then know if it is safe to continue driving. on mine oil pressure sensor can be bypassed. if my dash gauge shows no drop in oil pressure, but sensor goes bad, or a wire to it loses it's contact it would normally shut down. but not since I had that changed in the programming.
