If any one picks up from swift meats, be prepared for hell, the drop yard is extremely tight (maybe 5 inches between trailers) and the charge a washout, and spotter fee to pick up a trailer, even if it's washed out when it arrives, plus there's a 75 dollar fee if your tandems aren't all the way back when you disconnect from the trailer, I thought about just dropping my trailer in the middle of the drop yard and telling them "if your charging me a spotter fee, then I might as well give them some work"

A large percentage of Prime's drop and hook customers charge spotter fees. It's mostly paid for as part of the billing process though, and not thru the drivers. If you're a lease op, you'll see on the copy of the freight bills you get "Shipper spotting of trailer" as a deduction at all most all drop and hook customers.

As the washout goes, most meat plants with their own on-site wash will wash out the trailer themselves, since there are more than a few drivers out there that would just pour a gallon of water in the back of the trailer and call it a day. Whenever I delivered in Denver, I always waited on my dispatch before I would get washed to make sure I wouldn't wash and then get sent to Ft. Morgan where they would wash it again.

$75 for failing to slide the tandems? Good. I hope it's gets charged to the lazy driver that didn't want to take 2 minutes to do his job correctly. I was working as a yard jockey at a cardboard plant all last week, and they will reject trailers if the tandems aren't slid back. Had one carrier that lost 2 loads because they had no correctly dropped trailers.

I coulda been nice and slid them...

Or I could let their trailers be rejected and have the freight go to the backup carrier.... :biggrin_255:

Someone where I work should give me a bonus for not being nice.
