1900, is a good week at Celadon. But really you have to keep in mind that the company driver is only there to support the lease program...by taking whatever is left after the leasees have been dispatched

Well, it's different between company driver and lease-purchase and owner/op at Celadon. As a company driver there, it was about 95% good. But from the moment I signed a lease, I've been treated like dogs$(t. After actually reading their lease and seeing 4 months of "settlements", I can say that their lease is "upside down". It's all profit for them, and red ink for those in the l-p/owner-op ranks. They ignore the fact that you have to be able to pay your own social security (15.5%), Medicare tax (2.9%), as well as your own income taxes (up to around 33%). The SS is based on your total gross for the week. Mine has been averaging around $2550/wk, making SS about $395.25, which sometimes is more than I net for the week. Medicare is 73.95+/-. Income tax gets based on your gross after SS/MediCare is deducted, which works out to be around $686.86. Uncle Sam doesn't care about your business deductions until you file your Form 1040 with a Schedule C attached. Then MAYBE you'll get a refund. Problem is, you can't make it till then. Alot of the time my settlement is only $400 to $500. The trucks you get to choose from, if not on the waiting list for one of the new black ProStars, won't get good mpg unless you slow down to under 60 mph. I can get 7.0 driving 58-60 mph. Celadon expects you to be doing 65 mph all the time. The new leases take the payment out at 20 cpm (cents per mile), and there's a .05 cpm Maintenance Fund which you can't touch unless a repair is over $300. Less than that and they take it out of your settlement. They pay .90 cpm plus Fuel Surcharge (currently at .42 cpm), but in actuality you're only making $1.07/mile. And that is where they start deducting everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING ELSE! And tolls are all on you, as is weighing your loads. And on that subject, expect every load to be over 40,000 pounds. I had to start refusing loads right and left to get 1 load under 20,000 pounds. Then it went right back to the SOS. Don't go lease-purchase with Celadon. It's not worth it!

After talking with a LP at Steak n Shake, he told me that LP and O/O get first pick of loads because in exchange for being LP/OO and basically having to pay for everything, the agreement is they in turn get to be more productive in order to be able to pay for everything. Meanwhile company drivers may not get the best loads but they have the stability of things LP don't have..like health insurance, paid tolls, etc.

He was a really nice guy. One of the few LP I've met that aren't angry and bitter at the company.

Well all I can say about it now is that celadon has been a changed Co. in the past year or so. when You have ppl that have been here 5 and 10+ year drivers leaving to go to other companies there is a problem. Over the past 5 months or so they have been leaving at an alarming rate. And also Buying up companies at an alarming rate. Im hanging tho so far.:biggrin_2558:

Celadon bought the company I drive for back in April. I haven't had to deal with them too much, but for the times I have its been a huge headache. Payroll is 50/50 if you going to get someone helpful on the phone. Weekend dispatch is a joke... night dispatch, is again 50/50... I enjoy speaking with Kim and another dispatcher I can't remember his name, I think its jake or jacob but is helpful, other than that its a waste of time talking with them. Overall, not too impressed with the company as a whole but that's just my opinion.

Well after retiring from the military with CDL in hand and it being over 10 years since driving OTR, I need a refresher and Celadon will conduct a refresher course of 5 days and then off to orientation. New drivers have to start somewhere and I think it is a company that can make it happen.

I'm with ya. If it weren't for Rachel in N Little Rock, I would have been gone a long time ago. She is running me like a scalded dog DESPITE the "Borg"s attempts to squash us. I'm still averaging 2900-3200 miles/week, but only when this POS International Pornstar JUNK is working properly. Either way, Rachel has been keeping my wallet full and those wheels turning for me. Love her to death. Kim works her butt off at night, but other than that, I haven't found anyone else at Borg Headquarters that I care to communicate with, even for one minute. They have taken over planning from Rachel, which I can definitely feel already. From 800-1200 mile runs down to 500-600 mile runs. Still did 3300 miles last week, but it takes more hours to do so when I'm delivering and loading every day.

I probably won't last past January

Time to get up and get over to the shop and BEG to get this faulty headlight wiring harness replaced... again. Third truck in six months since Celadon came along, and this is one of the problems every last one of em had. JUNK. International Pornstar with Maxxipad engines.
